denalidave Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Just wondering how it was today and what you ended up doing? I'm guessing it was perfect out there? I ended up ski touring up to Tilly Jane Hut and then above the CS shelter. Great day but the snow was bullet proof down lower. Good to get out though. Sure wish I could have squeezed in few pitches w/ya'll too. Maybe next weekend? Dave Quote
ivan Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 great day for january at beacon - was envious of the party-scene doing the corner as it allowed free climbing in the sun - ken and i choose the path of the penitent and mucked about a great deal in dankish aid-land - man, if only we could keep doing this shit all winter! denalidave Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Kewl. To early to tell but rumors of nice weather next weekend too. Whos in, weather permitting? Quote

denalidave Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Ken, from Eastern OR, Wala Wala, I think it is. Quote
JosephH Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Ken's works for the corps up by Tri-cities. He has a brother down in Vancouver and has been coming down to climb at Beacon for the past three or four years. He's more local than some of the locals at this point. Quote

Dankish Aid-Land is one of my favorite places to visit (though I'm not quite sure I'd like to live there). I should have crashed your party. did you work off some bad karma? Quote
kevbone Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 man, if only we could keep doing this shit all winter! You can.....just dont get caught. Quote
ivan Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 what route did you do ivan? beacon has a new ken? little wing to right gull - the cracks were wetter than grandma on double-coupons day - funky how conditions can totally change the way you envision and then have to do a climb - the top outs on the many tiers along the way were the hardest, sopping wet moss n' no gear n' nothing but loose blocks to wallow onto the ledges with we dug it Quote
billcoe Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 what route did you do ivan? beacon has a new ken? New AND dramatically IMPROVED Ken! Laughing at how many biners can fit into hangers as they all start showing up to my belay stance when belaying JH on his new route here. Quote
billcoe Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 the cracks were wetter than grandma on double-coupons day OMG! You GOT the gift Ivan! Quote

ivan Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 2morrow - the next round - dryness after today's piggly-wiggly-half-hard-snow-storm - ken'll be there as always - who else? think it's a stephenwulf day! Quote
denalidave Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 I'm deciding between skiing or beacon. I think Ken is over there now getting soaked and rapping the w side. Doesn't sound like much fun to me. Kinda half snow/rainy right now. Sunday is looking more of a ski day that rock but if it's dry, I'm in. Quote
ivan Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 if it's dry, I'm in. mawkish mortal! heresy! dread beacon - dry or dripping! summit or death! Quote
denalidave Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 if it's dry, I'm in. mawkish mortal! heresy! dread beacon - dry or dripping! summit or death! You da Man. I like to choose my play with appropriate weather. Fresh snow = great skiing/not so fun beacon climbing. Still on the fence though and watching the weather. Heard from Ken? Quote

ivan Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 whoa, der's a fun day done! started murky n' dripping - shut down 15 ft off the ground attemting to get to stepphenwulf - slugged it up the corner to jills instead - quite the herd embracing The Suck today (dan, shawn, ? did lil'wing to fearoffly'n and jim eventually showed to set up a homeless shelter at the base - dave poked his head out momentarily too) the good news - everything dried off today the bad - it's now 33 degress and hOWLing oughta be a great monday for those fools too terpain to be timid Quote
denalidave Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Thought about joining you in the suffer-fest but was pretty soaked from running the trail so I wussed out. Looked like as much fun as a toothache though. Prolly skiing Mon. Quote
JosephH Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Better dry and cold than wet - climbing babie, not sliming! Monday's the day... Quote
Moof Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 What a blast (of wind)!! We even got serenaded (badly) by Ivan! Titles included "Don't worry, be happy" (I wasn't worried, just fricking cold!), and many more. Quote
