Mixup: NE Couloir

Anyboby have any beta about a couloir on the north east aspect of Mixup peak that would be a good winter outing?

I did Mixup this time of year a couple of years ago via a couloir on the NW aspect that lead to the west ridge. We descended via Gun Sight Notch and traveresed back west under the North Face. I don't recall seeing a couloir on the NE aspect.

I think cacade pass road is gated at eldorado TH, which would add considerably to the approach.

DPS,

Did you approach and descend via the Middle Fork Cascade River? If not, I think you must be turned around in your directions a bit. See map below. Up is North.

Here is our approximate route. Red is ascending, green is descending. The glacier was very broken up, thus the circuitous route.

That's a cool route! My partner and I ogled it on the way up to Cache Col in the summer. A few nifty chunks of ice fell out of it as we passed by in July.

 

As for gating, I think the road's gated at MP 12.7 now.

Thanks for the info. With the Cascade River Road washed out, we decided to check out the North Face of Pyramid instead. For those interested, its not in.

where's the road washed out? how much of hike from there to cascade pass now?

As per a phone conversation with the local Ranger, it is washed out at Hard Creek, approximately eight miles prior to the Eldorado TH.
