catbirdseat Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 In climbing Cocaine Crack I noticed that there was a sewn shoulder length sling girth hitched to a piton under the roof. I got to wondering why someone would do that. It could be they bailed from that sling, but that seems unlikely as that would be foolhardy. Do you think they used it to aid the move around the roof? Maybe they girth hitched it because they figured the second would also need it to aid and couldn't clean it? Quote
RuMR Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 maybe they are trying to keep an idiot in suspense? I can see that its working... Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 20, 2007 Author Posted October 20, 2007 And I'm sure that plate of brownies is working its magic too. Quote
pope Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I'm thinking that if the sling was clipped on the FA, why not add a bolt a couple feet down from where the piton is? Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 20, 2007 Author Posted October 20, 2007 Lord knows why the piton is there. There is a perfect Yellow Camalot placement three feet below it. Maybe it's a really old piton. Quote
chucK Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Is that a yellow C4 or a yellow old style, or perhaps the yellow camalot with the double stem? Or, fuck, I dunno, I may be thinking of a gold camalot (the old style, but not the really old style). Quote
Sol Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 a friend took a bad fall clipping a gear on cocaine crack a few weeks ago and had to bail, prolly part of her bail gear. Quote
Bug Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Maybe she clipped the piton, girth-hitched it, set up the rope in the sling for a rappell, and cleaned the biner. Quote
Alex Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I'm thinking that if the sling was clipped on the FA, why not add a bolt a couple feet down from where the piton is? Now THAT was a good one!! Quote

There is a cam or something with a green sling buried deep in the crack below the roof. I didn't get a good look at it. It's probably there for good. Quote
G-spotter Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 there's something green buried in the Nose too Quote
