Jens Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Can you clip the screw on lid with a caribiner and how much does it hold (swinging around clipped to harness etc.)? What is up with those cleaning tablets? The shops want 8 bucks for 20 of them. Quote
skykilo Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I've clipped a full 0.6L Sigg bottle to my harness many times without any problems. Dunno anything about cleaning, though. Quote

This sounds like Vertical Limit. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 i like em. clip solid to a harness with less wobble than a nalgene. a bit lighter too maybe (no data for this) Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Water perhaps? I know but I've been using them for 25 years to carry gasoline and I just can't bring myself to drink out of one. Quote
marylou Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Denture cleaner (Efferdent) works great for cleaning bottles and hydration systems. Or, instead of cleaning, just rinse and store in the freezer when not in use, and nothing will grow in them. Quote
Mountainstyle Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Aw, don't clean your water bottles... all the stuff that grows in there just makes you stronger. Quote
ofelas Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 My thoughts exactly. I can't bring myself to drink water out of my red loop cap SIGG fuel bottles unless it's one of them SIGG bicycle bottles with a nipple. But that's a whole nuther story. Quote
Nick Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 The Sigg bottles are marginally heavier than a 1 liter lexan Nalgene, but I am using aluminum now because I am sick of the taste of plastic. Sigg makes plenty of gaudy bottles that don't look like the traditional fuel bottle. The small mouth will probably be prone to freeze up in cold weather, but is less prone to dump water down your shirt front. Clipping the lid of a Sigg is a lot more secure than clipping the fragile plastic loop on a Nalgene lid. Quote

OlympicMtnBoy Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 So how come nobody has bothered to make a wide mouth aluminum bottle? It seems like the obvious competitor to nalgene. If they made a short squat 1/2 liter one I could cook on it too when solo and not have to carry a separate pot. Quote
billcoe Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 kLEAN kANTEEN IS FAILY WIDE, NOT ENOUGHT TO COOK ON. Quote
