G-spotter Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Nesakwatch Creek road is totally impassible past 3km right nowbut will be rebuilt to 2wd standard in the next few weeks. Over the summer it should be possible to 2wd to the normal Slesse parking area. The big hill up to Rexford will probably be gated though. Slesse is still kind of white but the east face pocket glaciers are already creeping and cracking and moving. North Couloir could be good right now? Quote
motomagik Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 That one is on my list for the summer for sure. Can't wait! Thanks for the pic! Quote
Ponzini Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 That road must be near the top of the list for number of times washed out and subsequently repaired in the last decade. Quote
G-spotter Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 It has 5km of Death from Above so that's not surprising Quote
dberdinka Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Hey Dru. How muc snow is there in the big, long gully leading up just north of N Illusion (access to N Illusion-W Buttress etc)? It crosses the road a km or 2 up from the Slesse parking lot. Thanks Darin Quote
G-spotter Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 I'll post a pic when I get home tonight. Short answer, the gully south of south illusion (right after the clearcut on the Rexford trail) is full of snow and an easy ascent right now - most of the others are discontinuous snow with possibility of block glide avalanches late in the day Quote
G-spotter Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 Looking down the gully shot for Darin. the top is discontinuous and melty. more of a NF shot of Slesse from the air near Icing Sugar. Quote
G-spotter Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 And here's an actual shot of part of the West Butt of North Illusion. It's pretty green in those cracks Quote
G-spotter Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 i think it's just snow... check out the spring pic in alpine select Quote
Tanner Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I want to climb the NE buttress of Slesse so bad!! Thats such a cool area! Quote
Brutus of Wyde Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Any update on the conditions? Specifically interested in the conditions of the roads this year. Thanx. Brutus Quote
G-spotter Posted May 30, 2007 Author Posted May 30, 2007 The report got sent to client today so they should start rebuilding the road next week or so... And there's still a fuckload of snow. Quote
JanD Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Any news on the road? How is the approach to Rexford right now? Any clues are greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jan Quote
G-spotter Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 They are working on the road. No idea about the snow but it looked like it got slushiez up high yesterday, although it's melted today. Quote
Brutus of Wyde Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Any update on road conditions?? tx in advance, Brutus Quote
JanD Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Hey, I went up that road on June 16. It is good to just past where those large boulders are on the road (km 3 or so). Then it is completely annihilated by creeks. I mean it's f%#@ed. I think it would take em a while to fix that up. Anyway, the hike is no problem only adds 45 min to the Slesse trailhead. Easy walking. Cheers, Jan Quote
G-spotter Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 I'm surprised they haven't started rebuilding yet. They should start any time now. Quote
Brutus of Wyde Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Any updated information on road conditions? Don't suppose the e. face pocket glacier has slid... Brutus Quote
G-spotter Posted July 27, 2007 Author Posted July 27, 2007 look out, a serac killed someone on the approach 2 weeks ago Quote
Brutus of Wyde Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 yup was very sad to hear about that. Tell the truth, if the pocket glacier doesn't go this year, we'll go elsewhere. We're firn believers in "gift conditions" Brutus Quote
go2boy Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 One rope or two for the NE Butt. Nelson says two, but... Anyone? Quote
