carolyn Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Hi-I am looking for a lady to pose for a paid climbing assignment at Blue Mounds State Park. She needs to wear a blue bikini top or blue bra, showing G rated clevage, for a photo for t shirt and or image sales. Her face will be identifiable. This shot pays $100 cash, and all photo rights are to the photographer. The photo will not be altered to ever be anything stronger than a G rated content. Please contact me off this forum. Photo ideally would be shot prior to the new leaves comming out but could be shot later in the year. The models needs a great smile and a positive attitude. This is a head and shoulders photo only shot from above and does not require high technical skill. For examples of my photography, please see my websites which you may request from me. Do I even need to tell you what website this is from? Quote

kevbone Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Someone needs to stamp PERVERT to his head. What a load of crap. Pervert.....dont you think you are being a little overbearing? The add was straight forward. Try not answering the add. Quote
Off_White Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I wouldn't say pervert, but it seems a little strange. He doesn't appear to be a professional enough photographer for this to be some product shot for a catalog, so I don't understand why he'd pay $100 for a personal copy of some g-rated climbing cleavage. It's not like skin is rare in the modern prana top world. Maybe he's working on a series, but why can't he get this woman for a repeat session: Quote

max Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Someone needs to stamp PERVERT to his head. This dude is not right in the head. There is a place for men like that. From Dictionary.com... Perversion: any of various means of obtaining sexual gratification that are generally regarded as being abnormal. I suppose you'd rather he chose something more "normal" like www.redhotknobslobbers.com or any of the many porn sites. This is even assuming there's something sexual about it at all! The guy seems to emphasize beauty and not sex. Don't like being treated like a sexual object? Get over yourself and quit assuming your one! I can't seem to find anything remotely unhealthy about what he's got going on here. Cindy: nothing personal; it just seemed your comments spoke for a larger population. Quote

Are these photographers perverts too? pics by Bill Brandt and Lucien Clergue Quote
carolyn Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 my first reaction was that I thought it was funny and kind of an odd thing to be posting. He seemed somewhat secretive about giving more information unless you contacted him. That isnt a great way to start out when asking a female to wear a bikini top or bra while being photographed (unless its craigslist or the xxxpersonals). My other issue with it - and yes, it may not be a popular one - is the way he worded his request. Why be so specific on what to wear and ask that it be so little? How does one take a photograph from the top of a climb with someone wearing a bra or bikini and not have it go beyond the "G" rating. At the very least, you know he is getting a good peep. Why cant the woman wear what she wants? Why does she have to have a "great" smile? Why cant she have a great look of determination instead? It's a shoulder/head shot. Why not photograph the entire person to show her strength and grace? His wording makes me belive he is more interested in finding a female to be advertised as an object rather than the entire being (both strong and feminine) that she is. Personally, as someone who works specifically with girls and women focusing on sports and body image, I find something like this innappropriate. Others dont have to agree with me. Thats fine. I would just ask that you be open to the idea that women are often portrayed more for their body, smile, and caretaking abilities, rather than everything that encompasses their being (feminine and masculine characteristics). On the flip side, men are also denied their feminine side (which does exist guys!) due to the stereotype that they have to be "strong"-both physically and emotionally. Go take a look at your climbing magazines. How many pictures show the men doing some heroic looking move, in the lead, making a face showing determination? How many women are shown holding the rope, behind the guy, dressed in clothing that is sweet and innocent, smiling, etc? Check out some kayaking photos as well. Not often do you see a woman with her paddle in the water. She is usually hanging out enjoying the atmosphere. The men almost always have the paddle in the water. Ive probably gone way overboard and moved a bit away from the orignal topic. I dont support his search and I have shared with him in an email the above sentiments. Quote

Must be able to work ten hour days, have reliable transportation to rural worksites. Strong applicants only. Why can't they be looking for somebody with foundation experience? Why can't the job be near town? I'd rather work 5-8's. It seems like they're just llloking for a laborer, not a concrete worker! It all boils down to this: Money talks. He's got the cash, he calls the shots. It's a job. Ever worked a job you didn't like, but did because you got paid? Don't like it, don't do it. But you'll get no sympathy from me claiming he's strong arming people into doing something they don't want to do or something that's inappropriate. Quote
max Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 And you're right: you are entitled to your opinion and it's just as good as mine. But when you start a post calling the guy a creep and looking for support, you better expect somebody to call bullshit. Quote

My initial reaction as I logged on to the particular site to sell some gear and check local ice conditions and saw this was....creepy. I suppose my title could have been a little less judgemental. What kind of reaction do you suppose it would have gotten had this been posted on cc.com? Quote

But you'll get no sympathy from me claiming he's strong arming people into doing something they don't want to do or something that's inappropriate. Either Im missing YOUR point. Or youre missing mine. Nothing wrong with your ficticious ad - as they are looking for SKILLS and ability to PERFORM the job. Now, had your ad required the person to go topless (to show your bulging muscles of course), have straight teeth, and a great smile, I might think its innappropriate. Why? Because there is less or no focus on SKILL to get the job done. I would think the person looking for the employee was more interested in the object than the work performed. I dont believe that is right whether male or female. Its not about working a job you like or dislike. Its not about being male or female. Its about doing a job that excentuates your skill rather than your body - OR focuses on both EQUALLY no matter who you are. Quote
archenemy Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 My question is: What the hell is G rated cleavage? What are the other ratings? What is the pay scale? Weird. Quote
Sherri Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Carolyn, Thanks for the enlightening and engaging discourse on this subject. People can always agree or disagree based on their own observations or experiences. For me, your points strike powerful chords, bringing issues to the surface that often remain in the subtext of society's messages. Way to put yourself out there regarding something so important to you. Quote
