powderhound Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I have a three week window between mid May and mid June to go pretty much anywhere and money is not a huge concern. I would like the trip to have a climbing focus with the idea of my best bang for my buck. I have never climbed outside the contential US so I would like to go elsewhere. I am seeking adive for places to go during that time with either doing a all alpine trip ice/mixed... or a bunch of trad climbing on some longer single day multipitch routes. Quote
chris Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Europe - Spain and Greece is the weather is crap, the Alps if it isn't Rock Climbing in Australia or South Africa Quote
montypiton Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 That's the best season for the Alaska Range. Long routes and midnight sun make a pretty appealing combination... Quote
powderhound Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 So alaksa woudl be a good place to go? Ruth Gorge? Quote
wfinley Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Mid-late May will be pushing it for alpine routes in the Ruth; it can get pretty warm in there at that time. However June is a perfect time for a place like Little Switzerland. Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 The only place I've been with impressive mountains would be the Alps, but I would heartily recommend them, especially in Switzerland. What a wonderful place! Wish I was a climber when I visited. Quote
NYC007 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 that time is kinda the hump.. season in the alps. weather iffy.. and a lil wet. Quote
