layton Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Anyone else been getting replies to photos posted in the gallery via their email accounts? I've been getting tons of replies by anonymous users (only viewable by clicking the link on the email, not on the photos in the gallery) commenting on different pharmaceuticals I may be interested in on my various photos of surgery, gore, and contusions. oh and sweet new puking gremlin! Thanks, i can't wait till i actaully go climbing to post a tr with it. Quote
layton Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 i take it back, the little guy doesn't actually hurl. lame. Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Well you seem like the kind of guy who could use some drugs. How do you know these e-mails are related to your photos on cc.com? Quote
plexus Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Because the email says in response to "said photo in Cascadeclimbers.com gallery". I've gotten a few but they have stopped since I changed my email address. Take out the @ sign and change it with the word "at". People will get what your email is and you won't be the King of Spamalot. "Spamalot?" "Spamalot!" "It's only a model." Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I thought that you had to be logged in to get access to a user's profile. Can spambots create accounts so they can log in and get email addresses? Quote
olyclimber Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Yes they can. We will be making it more difficult for them to do so soon, but it is possible right now of that to happen. I would suggest protecting your published, public email address as plexus describes above. Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Cor blimey, what's this world coming to? Quote
olyclimber Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 You can still recieve important messages etc from CC.com if you update your Public, published email address with "email(at)address.com" [e.g. "oly(at)cascadeclimbers.com" instead of "oly@cascadeclimbers.com"]. This address can be updated in #2 in this picture, which depicts part of the "My Profile" screen found in the "MyStuff" menu... Leave the address in #1 alone, as that is the one used by the board to communicate...it is not published. Quote
Otto Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I tried your suggestion, it doesn't work - the system gives a message saying the two addresses don't match. Then, if I make them both with the "(at)" tactic, it gives a message saying the addresses are formatted incorrectly. Maybe it's an IE thing, or a Google Toolbar thing... Quote
olyclimber Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 You're just updating #2 as shown in the picture(and not #1), correct? I tested this in Firefox, and it does work for me with a non-admin ID. Either you are trying to update form #1, or it is other software that is messing with you. If you are updating the part that has you put in your email address and then confirm the email address, you are updating the wrong place. Quote
Otto Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Right you are, I was indeed in the wrong spot. Thanks! Quote
billcoe Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I'd better post some photos, I'd like to get something that really makes my penis bigger. Attempt 329 and counting. Quote
