Grigri- how skinny can I go?

Really- how skinny can I go as far as a rope with a gri-gri.?

I have one of the newer colored ones but it still says 10-11mm ropes only. Are their newer ones that are labeled differently? I've seen a lot of sponsored-sporto's using really skinny cords with gri-gris. Anyone have any help for me?

a friend got dropped 50 feet with a 9.1 through a grigri: yikes! it caught before he decked whew.

my new 9.4 was kinda not too sticky through my grigri so i got me a cinch. way locker, but kinda tough at first to lower, until i got a feel for the short handle. there are a couple of new devices out there that are supposta be good with skinnies, and smoother on the lower.

Edelrid EDDY

"Eddy is the perfect belaying device for sport climbing for either novice or the experienced climber. The Eddy doesn't need much explanation and in simplicity is safety. Easy to thread, the rope follows logically the rope flow. A controlled descent with an emergency break system eliminates the "panic pull" syndrome which can lead to serious accidents. The Eddy provides maximum safety whether top roping or lead climbing with easy paying out of rope to the leader. Can be used for single ropes with diameters from 9 to 11.4 mm."

It all comes down to how an individual cord behaves. I've had one Mammut Revelation 9.1 behave just fine and another be just a bit too zippy. I've also watched in morbid fascination as a beefy 9.8 slowly oozed through a Grigri under a body-weight toprope load. Once the dry coating roughened up it was fine, but oh-so-spooky at the beginning.
