dberdinka Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Climb: Salish Divide- Date of Climb: 10/12/2006 Trip Report: Gene Pires and I both skipped work on Wednesday to go enjoy one last "summer" day in the mountains. A brutal thrutch got us up to the glorious high divide seperating Three Fingers and Whitehorse Mountain. Explorer-ating ensured. Enjoy! Gear Notes: chain saw, machete, agent orange Approach Notes: Thou shall suffer. Quote
layton Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 So what mountains are we looking at? Or is it hush hush. Nice recon btw, I wouldn't expect anything pretty 'round there, especially a high divide. cool Quote
layton Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 checked da guide. face/ridge 8 pitch 5.8 granite. that face looks neat! Quote
curtveld Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 checked da guide. Good catch. Photo #3 = Three Fingers from the north? Is the NE Butt the one behind the tree or in the center? Looks pretty cool. Quote
shapp Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 (edited) photo 1 is salish, photo 2 is the edge of squire creek wall Edited October 13, 2006 by shapp Quote
dberdinka Posted October 14, 2006 Author Posted October 14, 2006 Hey Curt. The NE Buttress would be behind the tree on the righthand side of the photo. Still could be a worthy climb, though no easy way to get back to where you started. The area is definitely worth a visit. Quote
genepires Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 yeah the pack seems small, but that doesn't meen there was "no send". maybe there was. maybe there wasn't. Quote
G-spotter Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 8 pitches, but "only" 600 feet... 3 pitches with a 70 Quote
genepires Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 mabe the 8 pitches circumnavigate the mountain. Maybe a real "corkscrew" route? Quote
tyree Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 OOOOHHHH its a SECRET I get it! Keep the crowds down, real hush hush. maybe maybe not Quote
genepires Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Doubt that many will ever hike in that far so the need for secrecy is not that important. If it was, then Darin would never have sent in these photos. I can't speak for him, but I would imagine that he is trying to keep the route one for someone to "explorer-ating". He is down on super topos so why should he create one for this area? It is obvious that there is a climb out there. I'll admit that it is really good. Go find it. go do it. have fun exploring. be ready to shwack. If you really need beta, (I usually do as I am super taco addicted) PM me and I may give it to you. Quote
brad Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 there's really cool air force fighter wreckage from the late 50's between salish and buckeye peaks, you can still see the nose art, instrument panels etc. really interesting. nice to see someone else enjoying the goods up there, thanks for the post.
