NYC007 Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Anyone got one they want to get rid of for cheap? Quote
powderhound Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Here is what I did for the summer. If you have a extension ladder laying around, one of the ones that as you slide up it clicks in to place, you lean it up agianst a tree and the desired angle. then get on the backside and use it like a regular rope one. I used it this summer and loved it. One cool thing is that you can use your ice tools on them and practice figure ofur and lock offs. Quote
goatboy Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Bachar Ladder = elbow tendinitis waiting to happen! Run away! Quote
powderhound Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Didn't mess with my elbow's and i was using it three days a week. Quote
NYC007 Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 I planned on using it for training for ice. Quote
kurthicks Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I started drytooling on the monkey bars in the local park. not good training for technical precision, but great for getting a wicked pump... Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I started drytooling on the monkey bars in the local park. not good training for technical precision, but great for getting a wicked pump... I'll bet the kids just love you. Don't the tools leave burrs all over the bars? Quote
SmallShoes Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Didn't mess with my elbow's and i was using it three days a week. That's because Bachar ladders are unstable (sort-of the point) which can lead to overuse issues with elbows. Sounds like you were using a metal ladder angled for campusing. Not sure if the instability/elbow overuse issues apply if you're using ice tools. Quote
NYC007 Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 yeah I used to do that w/ the monkey bars but cant work on lock off strength which is one of the targets I have. But to get wicked pumped grab 2 30# dumbbells and walk until you cant hold on. the bigger the grip the better! doing this then pull ups is fun,,, Quote

It really helps with swing tools, but for drytooling it might not help that much. Quote
NYC007 Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 I take the pic off one tool and strap a 3# weight on it and swing for several reps while watching Tv or anything.. could do more but may cause you to eventually overdrive you tools... Quote
treknclime Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Anyone have instructions for making a Bacher ladder?? I saw Crossfit had some in an old journal...but it costs 5 bucks. Googling didn't come up with anything. I've got the basic measurements...but wanted to see if there's anything formal out there. (thx!) Quote
Jens Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Be careful, even Bachar says they are to hard on the joints! Quote
treknclime Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Thanks, Jens, for the heads up. Have been doing laps on them at crossfit...and so far OK. It's a long drive to CF, and was thinking to work some laps in like once a week around home. I agree...they can be especially rough on the shoulder. Will shoot for doing less...vs. more. The advice is always welcomed with a Quote
