Leader needed: Cutthroat Peak, South Buttress 8/26

I'm looking for someone to lead up Cutthroat, the weekend of 8/26. This will be my first (5th class) alpine climb, so I'll buy the beer afterwards.

Any reason why you chose Cutthroat as your first alpine climb?

Are you comfortable scrambling/simuling 3rd-class to low-5th? If that portion of the buttress (most of it) had to be pitched out, it would make for a pretty miserable experience.

However, wouldn't you agree that I'm in a better position to judge my ability than you? A unique position, some would say.

 

However, there are more helpful things than sarcastic comments -- which, truthfully, will neither disuade nor assist me.

I would suggest that you show up for some Exit 38 climbing on a Wednesday or Thursday night and make yourself a known quantity. Then you stand a better chance of hooking up with someone for an alpine climb.

So I gather that when someone literally holds your life in their hand, you have to trust that they know what they're doing?

Seems like a good first alpine climb to me. I really enjoyed taking a couple inexperienced friends up that route.

 

(If I weren't in Michigan I might be willing to take your life in my hands. Lord knows I've gotten spanked enough on harder routes lately.)

Maybe Mr. Hansel would be willing. He has been rope-gunning a few cc'ers up hard routes lately.

Maybe you should hire a guide, since that seems to be what you are looking for anyway. You essentially are expecting someone to guide you up Cutthroat in exchange for a sixer. Maybe you can find someone with adequate experience willing to do this, but good luck.
