in the 1970's, I believe the generally accepted answer to this question was the Troll Wall in Norway. Middendorf article. Maybe it was just the biggest cliff that had been climbed as of that time.

 

is that the one the lady jumps off of in "the flying dutchman" whilst proclaiming her love for the cursed sailor? if it's a really tall one it would give her time to belt out an aria before she hit.

I'd bet nobody knows. I know of a couple of places in Turkey and the Caucasus with 1100+ meter vertical faces. I've heard rumors of 1500+ meter granite on baffin and god knows what down in Antarctica. Climbers lie, but who knows... bigdrink.gif

So where are these pictures if you have them?

 

 

The highest one that I have heard on on this continent is Mount Mulange which have a 1700m face on it, I guess most of it is slab.
