chipmunk
Wondering if anyone knows how much snow to expect on the approach to Kangaroo Temple? Any need for crampons/ice axe? I'm new to the area and never been there before so any beta would be appreciated.
DirtyHarry
There's snow going up Willow Creek and in some of the drainages going up to Kanga Ridge. If you're reasonable comfortable on snow, you don't need crampons or and ice axe as the snow is neither too icy nor it it too steep.
Otto
I was on Liberty Bell on Thursday, 6/22, looking over at Kangaroo Ridge all day. The snow on the approach in the early morning was very hard but I'm sure it softened up quickly when the sun hit. There was much softer, easy step kicking going down the standard descent in the late evening, West side. I didn't use crampons or an axe, but I got some use out of a scrounged stick. My partner had a short axe, as we were in soft-soled approach shoes.
Jason_Martin
Mornings are still cold with firm conditions. An ice axe would be nice. Â Jason
curtveld
For anyone that’s still interested, here’s a KT update from 6-25:  Plenty of snow still on the approach - no crampons needed but an axe was essential. From Kangaroo Pass toward the hairpin offered an outstanding glissading/boot skiing run.  We were shooting for the NW Face, but were stopped by a drippy first pitch. Pro was minimal too, but maybe I was just off route? Another party made it up the N Face, so it appears to be fine.
Mr._Natural
the first pitch is weird and pro is funky.
