curtveld Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Best anywhere Dude, it isn't even the best in the Sultan Basin Quote
sobo Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Yep, it was open to climbing when I was last there a couple of decades ago. Ice climbing as well. Stone Mountain is notorious for micro-edges and dime-size fingernail pinches. You could amputate both hands at the wrists and it wouln't hurt your climbing ability here, except tying it at the belays... Re: LOTM, I thought that the scenery looked awfully familiar as well, but I think it might have been filmed more down near Whitesides Mountain, near Brevard NC, on the border between North and South Carolina. I could check my DVD at home and see what the credits say... Quote
sobo Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 UPDATE: My little daughter stuffed a bunch of change and other whatnots into the DVD player over the weekend (just found out about this last night), and now it's toast. The LCD window won't even light up. Time to shell out yet another $200... Quote
ken4ord Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Whitehorse Ledge in North Conway, NH gets my vote. 800 feet of slab goodness. Quote
matt_m Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Whitehorse is fantastic - and if you get tired of the slabs just keep walking around to the wonder wall area - Proud stuff over there too. In fact Whitehorse/Cahtedral is one of my favorite areas PERIOD Quote
DJ_Dirty_Ernie Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 hell yeah, whitehorse/cathedral is one of the only real reasons one might have for living in the NE. whitehorse is the best slab climbing I've done and beats out static point in a head to head. but that might be b/c the only time I was at static point I was a surly 11 yr old. layton Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Anyone mentioned the Apron on the Chief in Squamish???? That gets my vote hands down. Sooo many good times Quote
