Spokeswoman Eva Flatau said: "We're going to build a pyramid on top of the Klein Matterhorn so that it reaches over 4,000 metres. This will give it more prestige among mountain climbers and will increase the number of tourists."

 

The pyramid will include viewing platforms, a restaurant and even a few rooms where visitors can stay overnight.

 

Building on the mountain's extension will begin next year.

Lets all get together and do a hundred foot snowman on Rainier. That would pass up a bunch of those 14,000ers in Colorado. We could have prizes for first ascent, first ski decent and first one-dayer via Lib Ridge.

I think this falsies for mountains craze is gonna take off. Why not build a skyscraper on top of Mt Si to get it into Washington's Top 100?

When I was there a couple of years ago they had built an ice cave at the exit of the tunnel by the Klein Matterhorn and had ice sculptures with lots of neon around. Pretty cool to be in there becuase it was a raging blizzard during the first week of August. They had done that too to attract the tourists.

I can hardly wait for the extension of Mt Tabor so that we Portlanders can boast our own 12,000 ft summit within the city limits. Plus this would make the state's highest peak be more accessible.
