mattp Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 We just had a burst of thunder that was incredible. I told my wife that it might be something else -- did an airplane blow up or something? It rolled on in a way that I don't associate with thunder. Five minutes later, we heard a humongous crash and the sky opens up. Our deck was covered with graupel in less than a minute. Wow. I've never seen such a storm except in the mountains. And I grew up in tornado alley. Smack. Bang. Graupel. No wind. No rain. Storm over. Quote
EWolfe Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I had to look it up: grau·pel Pronunciation: 'grau-p&l Function: noun Etymology: German : granular snow pellets -- called also soft hail Quote
olyclimber Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 do you think there is any graupel on rapple grapple? Quote
dalius Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Yikes! My entire house shook from that thunder. I didn't think it was thunder though at first - way too violent. Glad it was just thunder and not something else. Quote
mzchristy Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 That was CRAZY last night! I thought a plane had crashed, too. My room mate thought we were being bombed. (By who?? Pittsburgh, perhaps?) Quote
Dru Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 do you think there is any graupel on rapple grapple? Would you like some graupel in your Snapple? Quote
Dru Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I don't think graupelling is a valid technique in Rex Kwon Do Quote
