If it's efficacious, BYU will probably license it to a pharmaceutical company, basically ensuring that no one outside of the 1st world will get it.

 

apparently the pharmaceutical company already controls the patent.

 

however, this hasn't even moved into the stage of actually being a drug candidate. it's still research molecules. The first human trials haven't even been iniated yet. If this works and it's a huge if--it hasn't even been proven safe in humans let alone effective--it's a good 10+ years from market. Don't start thinking you can smileysex5.gif just anyone safely.

I've seen so many cancers cured in mice, you wouldn't believe it. Don't get too excited just yet.

 

yep--mice can expect to be cured of just about any cancer humans give them. smirk.gif

Actually, there is much more exciting news on the Hepatitis-C front. Vertex Pharmaceuticals has a protease inhibitor called VX-950 that is in human clinical trials (Phase II) which has dropped viral loads to nearly undetectable levels. HepC does not have any good treatments at present, unlike AIDS.

They've always shown themselves willing to cash in on those outside the faith, as well as being bright and educated.
