Peter_Puget
What groups performed the songs that the following three routes at the Lower Town Town Wall were named after: Sonic Reducer, Pretty Vacant, amd Terminal Preppie.
Peter_Puget
oops should have been a reply to the music thread not a start of a new one!
Dru
Well, move it away from music a bit then, what other world-famous climbing area has a route called Pretty Vacant (hint, routes called Furry Pink and Rock The Casbah are located in the same area)

mark
I heard a story that it was called library ledge because a porno magazine was left there stashed behind a flake. True?
Retrosaurus
!!! Winner !!! But it was more like a library, than a single mag.
pope
Sex Pistols? My second guess would be New York Dolls.

forrest_m
speaking of index musical route names, i've always wanted some explanation of "ted nugent in a basket". anyone have any ideas? as long as we're on index trivia, anyone know who Walter B. is and why we're apologizing to him? ScottP
More Index trivia: What is the nickname of the person largely responsible for hanging the boarshead from bolts on Model Worker AND why was the tradition finally stopped?
Dru
Even more Index trivia - to which of the individualFirst ascencionists' lives outside climbing do the individual words of "School, work, rehab" refer to?
AlpineK
Chief Pig Rigger: Big John. At least he did most of the public relations regarding pig rigging. The tradition stoped when Fred Grafton threatened to punch him. I should add that it was Fred who first discovered a supply of hog's heads [This message has been edited by AlpineK (edited 05-15-2001).] [This message has been edited by AlpineK (edited 05-15-2001).]
crazyjizzy
I think that "two-faced piece of shit" did most of the rigging, while BJ basked in glory of blame. These two were definetly in the Glimmer twins mold. But Joe also played an important role. How did we do ScottP? On to Walter B. When Dan Lepeska placed that bolt (twenty years ago), it was actually a big deal - rapp bolts. Thence the name, because he felt Walter Bonatti was the epitome of climbing purity. ScottP
My source said Fred threatened to punch out the lights of a guy named "Shop Boy". Is this Big John? (He didn't divulge Shop Boy's true identity.)

AlpineK
Shop Boy gets only 1/2 credit. BJ and his buddy the rat were the prime movers behind the pig. Ditto Crazyjz don't listen to Al
ScottP
It wasn't Al. BTW, for another $200.00 and what's behind the curtain, who did the first ascent of Princely Ambitions after the block fell off? Â
pope
Mike Massey. I'll take the $200, but I don't want what's behind the curtain, I'm pretty sure.
ScottP
It wasn't Mike Massey, unless he missed crucial holds and bypassed obvious gear placements (the latter possibly being the case if Mike's reputation is what I hear it is.).
