John Frieh Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Hey Wayne! Do you have any posters kicking around for me to distribute at local shops/gyms to drum up some support? Hey all you married cc.com turds! Put your kitchen pass request form in with your wife ASAP! I don't want to hear any "sorry but I gotta watch Will and Grace with my wife... it's our show" shit. Get out and drink some beer and support a great cause! Roll call! Who be there? All you lurkers! Great chance to meet the local riff raff!
Doug_Hutchinson Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I'll be there. Since I helped the good folks of the Madrone Wall Preservation Committee send out 850 letters announcing the show yesterday, there probably could be a few others there (not quite Mazama-scale networking but growing all the time). Visit www.savemadrone.org for other important Madrone-related dates.
billcoe Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Siggghhhhhh....I'll give up Will and Grace just to see Wayne, John, Opdycke and a few others again.
wayne Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 There are some posters up now I hear, I tried attach the one I was sent though. Thanks , and cant wait to see you all there!

Looking forward to it. BTW Good job Doug, Wayne and everybody else working on this, the least the rest of us can do is show up with a few bucks for the stamps and the other misc. schizzel.
Doug_Hutchinson Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 BTW Good job Doug, Wayne and everybody else working on this, the least the rest of us can do is show up with a few bucks for the stamps and the other misc. schizzel. Thanks are mainly due to, as always, for the tireless work of Keith Daellenbach and Kellie Rice to keep Madrone moving ever forward to being saved/reopened. The amount of effort those two have put forth continues to amaze and inspire.
layton Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Bump! I'm doing a very short slideshow at this event also. See ya there.
John Frieh Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Don't blow it! I think he meant "don't tell anyone we have no clue how hard CAN 5.9 A2 is" I'll buy you a d00d!
wayne Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 He meant dont just stand up there and yell " I am Mike Layton!" I Climbed MOX!" Dont you know who I am? !?"
elaine Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Thanks to Gavin at US Outdoor for giving us some really excellent prizes for the event!! Between what he's donated and the Access Fund's, lots of folks will leave the show quite happy!!
John Frieh Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I heard girls who climb will be in attendance
John Frieh Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I heard young Oregon State college girls who climb will be in attendance
John Frieh Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Is the commander going to make an appearance? It is just across the bridge I'll buy you a hairy eyeball
Cobra_Commander Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I would but I've a prior engagement unfortunately. Plus it would be a long drive for me. I'll take a raincheck on that eyeball. And I'll buy you a Zima. In fact, Zimas for all my friends!
Blake Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Ivan, or other vancouverites.. want to carpool?
billcoe Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 He meant dont just stand up there and yell " I am Mike Layton!" I Climbed MOX!" Dont you know who I am? !?" Thats funny. UPDATE: The show went off flawlessly last night to a packed house. I'd like to thank Wayne, Mike, Kellie and all the organizers who put it together or donated stuff for a worthy cause (trying to turn Madrone back into a park/climbing area instead of the gravel pit it's been heading for.) THANKS! Lots of old familiar faces (like I hadn't seen Wayne for probably 20 years) and nice times. Just a note for all you Seattle guys who missed it and thought Mike would choke: Layton did you proud. Wayne, in fact, should have taken a page from Layton as his voice was starting to go south on him: apparently Layton just turned on the machine and fell asleep, but hey I'm not knocking it, it was an amazingly solid 100 percent professional with zoom in and zoom outs/National Geographic pictures kind of prime time style show. Very slick with high production values. My only comment (I was the semi-elderly dude in the back of the room squinting like Hans Moleman), I couldn't see the titles. Make bigger and bolder. So I rate it a 9.99 out of 10.00 anyway cause the pics were way clear. If you get a chance to see this up there in the land of fish and timber don't think it's just Mike with a picture or 2. Definately worth seeing. Interesting that the person(S) who probably needed a rope the most had a signifigant other win it. (US Outdoor donated a rope for a raffle prize). I leave you with that cliff hanger puzzle.
