cynicalwoodsman Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 rat, thanks for gettin' back. I had almost nothing better to do last February but check out those lines on a daily bases from across the lake. There appeared to be some pretty amazin' stuff up there. Quote
kurthicks Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Hubba Hubba Blast Rock Wall (you can drive there right now) Drury Falls The Drip Pencil Quote
Kyle_Flick Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 A friend of mine enroute to work noticed that the first pitch of the Pencil no longer is there. Probably due to the sunny conditions yesterday. Quote
cynicalwoodsman Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 A climbing partner in Wenatchee said he cruised the icicle last weekend and said rainbow falls was in. Anyone else seen anything not already listed here? Quote
kurthicks Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Rainbow Right is "in" to some extent. the topout is thin, entering into the bushes. I bet that Careno Right is doable now too, I didn't have a partner though. Quote
Dustin_B Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Maybe some day I’ll learn to post pictures correctly but until then here are some links to pictures in the gallery from this past Sunday (12/11/05). We went up Snow Lake trail to Millennium Wall to find the “easily top ropeable routes” mentioned in ‘the book’. It was my second time ice climbing and my friend’s first, so we were looking to top rope something although I’m sure it would have been a fun lead for someone (see first picture). After much wallowing, we couldn’t figure out a way to top rope the damn thing, so we had to settle on top roping this little 15 foot flow we passed on the way up (see second picture). Funny anecdote, as we were packing up from climbing our little beginner-sickle and staring at Snow Creek Wall, a couple walked by and asked if we had just climb it (SCW). We said, “no, we climbed that” and proudly pointed to the 15’ foot flow we had been top roping behind us… guess you have to start somewhere! rat Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 for your future and present amusement: cappellini and i climbed a line up very thin ice where the two water streaks are shown in the center of the white slabs photo. after climbing the ice around the roof, we finished up country club since the slab above wasn't as nicely covered as your photo shows (a bit late in the day, too). go figure. that was maybe 4 years ago. it hasn't come close to forming since then. look for it cause it's a highly recommended line. kurthicks Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 (edited) And now for your daily ice report: 12.15.2005 CKouba and I climbed a little flow in the Icicle yesterday, just to the right of Icicle Buttress. Nice 30M of WI2-3 to a tree about 20 minutes from the road. obvious while driving up the canyon. Most of the routes in the Icicle look better than last weekend. We could not see Hubba Hubba due to clouds. Drury was obscured in clouds. Lake Jolanda was frozed all the way across, but probably not enough to support weight. We climbed Frenchman Falls in the afternoon. see forthcoming TR. 12.16.2005 Fuggs is in great condition, no rock pro necessary: CKouba leading the crux on P1. Nice lead! Pitch 2: Careno climbs: EVERYONE GO GET SOME ICE. I'm heading out for a week. Edited December 17, 2005 by wazzumountaineer Quote
