David Trippett Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Is it possible to descend the same ascent line off the north rib of the north peak? Or is there a quicker way? Quote
roboboy Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 the north rib is easy to descend with rappels and downclimbing. I dont think that you would want to descend any other way. Quote
treknclime Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 There's the traverse, and I wouldn't really call it a "descent" line...it's certainly not quicker. Quote
Bronco Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 If memory serves me right, there is the North "rib" and north "face" route which would be the standard route for the north peak. The rib would be a variation on the north face route proper. I can verify the north face route is covered in old sketchy rap anchors and pretty simple to follow the trail of tat. I believe the folks who climb the north "rib" typically descend the north "face". Â Pack a big lunch and a bivy sack, pretty tough routefinding on that thar peak, a lot of people underestimate it (including me). Quote
JoshK Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 There is an insane amount of rap slings going up the north face/rib/whatever it is called on the north peak of index. Quote
Bug Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Si. But stay to the lake side of the face as you get lower. Quote
