Kitergal Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'm gonna puke! Chepkurgor said his letter praised Clinton's leadership and commended his wife, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, for standing by her husband "like an African woman" in the face of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. OMG!! This is funny!! good find Oly!! Quote
archenemy Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I don't quite understand what's funny about that. Quote
olyclimber Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 it isn't funny. it just was story that included farm animals, so I thought you'd be interested archie. that little guy is just writhing in pain from eating something that didn't agree with him. Quote
archenemy Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Sure, goats and cows can provide entertainment. I just didn't get the humor in the "like an African woman" statement. Quote
olyclimber Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 its a variation of that Dylan song...."she laughs just like an African woman, but she crys like a little girl" Quote
Kitergal Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I agree Arch..although I think it's soo sick that it's funny! It's kinda funny that people would think of an American woman in those terms!! it just kinda makes me laugh!! Quote
archenemy Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 We're still not on the same plane. I think the man gave her an honest compliment according to the culture he is a part of. I don't see anything sick about it. And why wouldn't he think of "an American woman" using the same context, values, and beliefs that he sees the women of his own culture? I am not sure I understand what it is about his comment/actions that are so baffling as to be laughable. Plus, I usually need things explained to me pretty explicitly. Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I usually need things explained to me pretty explicitly. As I'm sure you're aware, things that are "funny" lose not a little of their lustre once they are deconstructed. But to break it down for you, archenemy, this article is "funny" because of the absurd differences in race, class and culture between the daughter of the former leader of the free world and this backward, agrarian-minded Negro from darkest Africa. There, do you see now? Quote
olyclimber Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 But if you realize the practicality of 40 goats and 20 cows, especially if there was an economic collapse, you might think otherwise. Clinton may regret turning down this offer. Quote

Dave_Schuldt Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Clinton almost gave up his wife for one cow called Monica Quote

olyclimber Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 the answer depends on how many goats and cows you have to trade. Quote
