Cashmere?

Has anyone been up Cashmere recently? What was the impact of the fires last summer? I'm thinking of heading up there for a day trip but am wondering how burned out it is...

Yeah, in fact the entire Icicle Canyon, including the Stuart Range and enchantments, are a complete and utter waste land. Best to stay away. There's better hiking elsewhere.

i haven't been up cashmere so can't really speak to it specifically, but i mountain-biked in a burned out area in derby canyon last weekend. i think these places are still beautiful despite their burns.

Really, it's quite nice despite the burns. Do it in the fall, though, as the tamaraks are blazing yellow. Either way, better hike it now before they start drilling.

The burns are on the first half of the slope between Lil Eightmile Lake and Lake Caroline. Above are gorgeous meadows. Flowers are pretty.

Those burns aren't from last year, that's from 1994, I believe. Last years fire was on the steep N slopes of Cashmere just slightly west of Lake Victoria, near the Doctor Creek drainage. No reason any one should be hiking over there ...now snowboarding on the other hand...

I was up there during an alpine biology class when I was in college. Some reason I was by myself up at Windy Pass, between Lake Caroline and Trout Lake. So I dropped my pack and scrambled up Cashmere from there. Seems like there was one exposed step across and then a steep gully to the summit. That was thirty years ago, but I remember it as a fun little scramble.

total tick-fest. I have never seen so many of the pests on one trip. changed clothes at the car, drove home and found two more when I dropped my drawers...but other than that, Cashmere is areally cool and easy scramble.

seriously do you think they would compromise their well-being and peace? I have heard many local folks speak very disgustingly about those cidiots from the UW.

I was up there on 7/2 with Alex Mineev. It's a nice hike, the wildflowers are in bloom and it's awfully pretty up there, and the views to the Stuart range are pretty awesome. But aside from some fun scrambling at the summit, it's not really a "climb." As Alex said, "it's Mt. Si on steroids." But much better views, and much less crowded.

Someone mountainbiked all the way up the west ridge; that must have been fun!
