Thinker Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 ALTA SKIER BULLETIN - 70 inches of snow so far this week and still snowing! Come on up to any of our wonderful ski shops and check out the demo ski sales. Job recruitment, Friday, march 25th for New Zealand ski area in the wildcat base area. Eat your hearts out! http://www.alta.com/Frames/snow_report_picoftheday.htm Quote
blue_morph Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Alta is for losers. What would happen at that place if I showed up with a split board. If I have a friggin lift ticket and have the board in split mode they can't keep from the lift. Then I can clip it together and go boarding. Quote
swaterfall Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 That would be cool if snowboards weren't gay. Quote
Skeezix Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Telemarking ...If it were easy, they'd call it snowboarding. Quote
Off_White Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Pffft, damned prissy self righteous two plankers. If telemarking were fun, everyone would do it. Quote

Thinker Posted March 26, 2005 Author Posted March 26, 2005 Yeah..... ...care to share any more of your ultimate fantasies there Morph? Alta is just a lot shorter than Snowbird to type into my browser to check snow conditions. I've got a line on 1/2 price lift tix from some Kiwi friends that work at Snowbird, which is where I'm headed bright an early Sat morn. Quote
ken4ord Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Now you are talking Thinker, the terrain at Snowbird is way better than Alta. If it was the other way around, then I might complain that they don't let snowboarders in, but Alta is flat terrain in my opinion. You have to do too much traversing to get to the good stuff. Quote
AlpineK Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Snowboarders [whine] I don't like to traverse [/whine] Maybe if you didn't have both your legs tied together...oh wait thats skiing. Traversing keeps the riff raff out. Making people work a little bit cuts the crowds down and thus preserves powder. It's especially effective with the snowboard crowd who likes to sideslip down runs they can't ride. Quote
cj001f Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Job recruitment, Friday, march 25th for New Zealand ski area in the wildcat base area. Whoop de fucking do da. You can apply online for all of them. Quote
marylou Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Looks like you have some killer conditions down there! You should let us all stay at your house, play hooky, and go skiing! A plane ticket to SLC costs less than a lift ticket at the ski area. Quote
Thinker Posted March 29, 2005 Author Posted March 29, 2005 I rode lift with a guy who was sking chest deep powder on Saturday morning with blue skies above. I haven't been skiing much in the last couple years so kept to the easy groomers, myself. There's another big storm system hunkered down over Salt Lake for the next few days...should be another awesome week of skiing. I'm going to try to take off work early and get in a few runs Wed or Thurs. My place is always open to just about anyone I've shared a beer with...and even to people I don't know as long as they come armed with a nice bottle of Scotch (or a couple of cute babes). Quote
marylou Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 For some reason, tickets to SLC are not at their usual buck 2 eighty nine. Wonder if all the people flying down there to ski's driven the price up a bit.... Quote

I myself like to ride and carve turns instead of going straight. Quote
