iain Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 http://www.nwac.noaa.gov/~nwac/products/OSOMHM Check out the 1:00pm readings: 42°F, relative humidity 100%, AVERAGE winds 26MPH with gusts at 42MPH and 0.1" of rain. And then Meadows' ski report: Weather: "Mild and overcast with precip" Surface Conds: "soft and very carvable" LOL Quote
b-rock Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Did anyone head up to Hood for turns this past weekend (other than the poor Meadows Season pass owners)? Quote
John Frieh Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Willamette was serving premium grade A mung sprinkled with rain on Sat. Yummy. Quote
iain Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 Yeah Saturday started out good for a few hours but deteriorated by around noon. I busted home in anticipation of some traffic issues, and because i was rimed up to the point a lift op said "dude, you look like an icicle". Quote
b-rock Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Sounds like I picked a good weekend to get stuff done around the house. That Meadows forcast reminds me of the typical east coast ski report - "Loose and Frozen Granular" - translating to "Coarsely Chopped and Solid Ice". Quote
iain Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 "visible humidity" (dug from the archives of the Mt. Bachelor reports) "smells like pineapples" (another Meadows gem) Quote
Gaper_Jeffy Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Did anyone head up to Hood for turns this past weekend (other than the poor Meadows Season pass owners)? Yes and it was sunny and warm up high. I got a nice tan. Clouds below: And blue sky up high with Thudman turning: Thudman again: Going into the clouds: And on the Alpine trail back to the car: It ened up being a waayyyyy better day then we expected. Quote
Gaper_Jeffy Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I've sorta grown tired of Meadows. I've only been there once since they turned on the lifts--and I'm even a passholder. Quote

Roger Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 no doubt. I'm usually sick of Meadows after my second trip in a season. Every year I'm glad I didn't buy into one of those 10-ticket things that someone is always emailing me about in October. Bachelor was actually better on Sunday. Saturday was just wet wet wet... one of those rivulets-of-water-running-down-your-back days. Didn't get the rime ice treatment like iain, probably because it's +/- 1000 feet higher than Meadows...? Gaper_Jeffy Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Thudman - you're going to miss all the fresh slushiez! Quote
Thudman Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I'm really only going for next weekend. Other than that, I'll go ski some slushiez 'till they're gone too. Maybe it'll be time for the Wy'east soon. Does the Gapermobile have pontoon attachments? Quote
Gaper_Jeffy Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Hmm I'm not sure about the pontoon attachments. But I know that with the quality of my tires we can drive STRAIGHT UP the WyEast face! Quote
