nomad Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Is it too much to ask for? I'm looking for some ice to learn on, and since I only have 1 screw, it needs to be tr, unless there's rock pro available or the pitches are short. my tools are getting bored. Quote
Kevin_Matlock Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 You could always hit up elliot on hood. Pretty much cooper spur ski area as far as you can drive, hike up to the glacier, and then hit up the ice lines to the south (cooper spur ridge) or the crevasses in the glacier itself. I've done this B4.... better than nuttin'. Quote
ryland_moore Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Is the flow in a Ski Bowl to the right of the main run? I am out in Enterprise climbing ice today and it is awesome! There is also a curtain that forms near Pete's Pile in Hood River, but probably not cold enough. Paulina Falls south of Bend is another choice and is at 6k feet. Don't knowe of any reports though.Post if you find out! Quote
sketchfest Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Funguy and I went in search of ice last weekend and I ca tell you that there is very little to be found. This is what skibowl looked like Pete's was completely dry...not even a drip to be seen. We did see some stuff forming around Odell, but it's probably gone by now. Quote
rbw1966 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 White Pass is about 3 hours from Portland. There was ice in the gorge as of yesterday but unprotectable. Quote
icezazz Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Clear Creek Falls, Definitely within 3 hours, more like 2.5. This is formed up most years, we climbed it last year and we all know what a crappy ice year that was. Bring your skis and if you hike in, find no ice you can at least ski! Yur gonna have to crank up the commitment level amigo! We drive 12-14 hours to get the good stuff, maybe you should find another sport, if you cant be bothered to drive to maybe you`ll grip out when the time comes. Thats the best part of ice climbing, keeps out the gumbys. Quote
KingsMM Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 anyone know where this clear creek falls is? Quote
wdietsch Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 a bit of a resurection here ..hey .. iceazz, if you are still out there .. I imagine you were referring to the upper falls? Quote
