Does anyone know if theres a place to pick up an Oregon snopark permit late at night?

I'm planning on driving down to Hood from Seattle after work on Wed night and get in a climb Thursday morning before I head home to see the fam for christmas. I figure by the time I show up at Timberline the day lodge will certainly be closed and I want to start up the mountain earlier than when the resort office opens up on thurs morning.

Any spots in Govy or elsewhere that one can snag a snopark permit around midnight?

..I could just be lazy and buy a snopark permit up here in WA, but they cost $9 here and $5 in Oregon.

thanks.

There are a couple of ski shops in Gresham that you'll pass by on the way up to Govy. Not sure what time they close, but I've scored mine there. Don't know their names or addresses, but maybe someone else does...??

$5? That must be for a one-day pass. Why not just lay down the bones for a season pass? They are good in WA and OR.

The MT Hood Store in Parkdale sells them if you come down via Hood River.

The GI Joes on Mill Plain in Vancouver (about a mile off of I-205) sells Oregon permits and is probably open till 9 PM(?). And a few years ago the ARCO station in Sandy sold them. Don't know if they still do. Obviously, I'd phone either one before counting on them.

thanks...just checked, the Arco in Sandy does have snopark permits and is open 24 hrs.

Reason I don't want to buy a season pass is that I may not be back in Oregon to climb this winter and in Washington you don't need a snopark permit at any of the passes or ski areas. Only place I think I've ever used one in WA is at Marble Mountain snopark for St.Helens.

And in California! In fact the passes you buy here are cheaper then if you bought them in Cali.

You can get them at that gas station in Sandy--the prominent one in downtown Sandy that faces you as you drive up. I forget if it's a 76 or an Exxon.

Once I left toyota in the middle of the Timberline lot on a busy afternoon to go up overnight, when I got back my car was about 100yds away next to the snow wall.

Apparently my e-brake didn't hinder the mighty snow plow of justice.

No pass and no ticket that time!

They have slim jims and will move your car for you if they need to plow--or just for the hell of it. They broke my girlfriends locks moving her car while we were out on an overnighter.

The Chevron station in Govy sells the passes too. For that matter, just about every establishment sells passes. I know the Huckleberry Inn restaraunt is open 24 hours and I'll be they sell 'em.

If if were me, I'd just head up to Govy and take my chances on being able to find a place there.

Sno-Park permits issued by Washington, California and Idaho are honored in Oregon and Oregon permits are honored in those states.

As I understand it, Oregon permits are honored on any vehicle within the state of Oregon, but only on Oregon-registered vehicles within (at least) the state of Washington. That means that Pete's Oregon permit will not be valid on his Washington-registered car parked in the Marble Mountain sno-park...which is closed for the foreseeable future anyway.
