You could use www.bivouac.com and check the 100 km Javamap from Sir Sandford to see where Bryce is in relation to it... Quote
Dru Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Here is a map link for you. Bryce would be visible NE of Sir Sandford or it could be something smaller and closer to the trench. If you are not registered to bivy.com I dont think the link will work for you. [ 09-26-2002, 11:00 AM: Message edited by: Dru ] Quote

iain Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 That map is pretty cool, thanks. Probably Bryce I guess. That picture is looking through the Houdini needles (steep skiing ) area which would put you in line with Bryce I think. Columbia seems too far north and would be close to Tsar from that angle, which would be noticeable. Thanks for the help. Quote
Dru Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Selkirk is not in the Selkirk mountains! Funny that. Sort of like Lillooet town being nowhere near Lillooet River or Meslilloet ("with only one o" )Mountain. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Right on Dru I did more checking. I think it is Bryce or Columbia. Quote
iain Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Looks like we be having some bulletin board probs... Selkirk is not in the selkirks. I didn't realize how far south Assiniboine is though. I need to get up there and head up a few of those rockies peaks. Quote
iain Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Whoop, dru made me look like mr. redundant. There's also the selkirks of northern idaho. Quote

It was ice over, but definitely looked steep from this spot. This was taken this April. I'll see if I have a few shots from up on the Gothics that might help. Welcome to thunderdome. Quote
iain Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Here's another photo from the same general area, to the left of the other photo. That first mountain would be to the right (south) I think that big'n is Columbia on the right. Dunno about the left rock face. [ 09-26-2002, 01:33 PM: Message edited by: iain ] Quote
Dru Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Alberta-left and Columbia-right in that one, I think. Quote

iain Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Comparing a photo from the east of Alberta's summit on bivouac.com and flipping it, I'd say you're right Dru. Quote

Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 What the hell is that pile of schist? Wait, that wasn't a very gneiss thing to say. Ahhh, hilarious. Say, is it time go home yet? Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Rock is pretty solid there actually. Easy slab. Better than Smitty rocks Quote
Dru Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Lotsa funky knobs but they don't pop off like Smith. 5 minutes to 4:20 Quote

I think it might be the N face of Alberta. The north face of Bryce is snow/ice right to the summit whereas this picture shows alot of rock, and looking at the N face of Columbia the left skyline (E ridge) is much more mellow than the one in the picture.
