Winter Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 So this REI catalog from 1977 went all the way to Pittsburgh and back to Seattle with my mother before she just gave it to me. Unbelievably great pictures. Knicker Hell Check out the mesh long underwear HOT swimsuit models Quote
olyclimber Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I refuse to climb in anything but the finest of tweed knickers. 'Might as well have the best.' Quote
johndavidjr Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I actually owned a pair of the Woolriche Knockers. Nowadays, I just roll up my pants so I can see my feet better, & get the "knicker" effect. I remember a tent I bought from REI in 1972. It was cotton A frame, with a coated nylon floor, very narrow and low at one end & high at the other. Very cool. I think Tom Miller took a picture of a very similar model in the Picketts in the 1960s that appeared in a Harvey Manning "Freedom of the Hills" edition. Would love to see a complete collection of old catalogs. Does anybody remember the cotton, Sacs Millet? --- Quote
ScottP Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Knickers with a white belt... never after Labor Day. Quote
tivoli_mike Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Late reply on this one, but I am actually digging the Filson wool knickers on the left. Last I checked with Filsons they were only doing stuff in the wax coated 12 oz. "duck" cloth. Quote
ScottP Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 yeah, but even Filson urges you to avoid the white belt. Quote
Kevin_Matlock Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Knickers, schmickers.... WTF???? Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 My father-in-law gave me a pair of vintage wool knickers a few years ago. They're actually great for XC skiing, but only if no one's around to point and laugh... Iain, your fey spidey is creeping me out. Quote
wdietsch Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Iain, your fey spidey is creeping me out. it's suppose to make you gay ... gay spiderman Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Those mesh long underwear models are guaranteed to have the opposite effect! Quote
Jim Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I think my wool knickers are up in the attic packed away with the cagoule and such. Quote
