Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Texas, Texas, Texas ... 61 degrees and partly cloudy at the mudpile! Come, clip some bolts, dog some classics, and bask in the high desert sun! Quote
texplorer Posted November 5, 2004 Author Posted November 5, 2004 Yes, but I can only go one day this weekend. Quote
barkernews Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 I'll be dodging choss at Vantage. Beacon can wait!!! Quote
fgw Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 In early '03 (maybe it was '02?), I saw two guys putting in a bolt 20 feet up at Beacon at the place where the base is closest to hwy/parking lot. that would be I guess NE corner. they mentioned that they're putting up a new route. wondering if anyone got any info. on it - has it been completed? rbw1966 Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 There are a couple or routes on the NNW side of beacon. Not really that inspiring when right around the other side you have so much goodness. Quote
ivan Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 i heard they fined the guys a shitload for each bolt they put in...at any rate, they conviently placed a sign by the prow of the rock there claiming it's actually part of the west face closure area. fahqers. Quote
rbw1966 Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 When I had a um. . 'discussion' with the ranger during the closure I was informed that the entire east side was closed to climbing permanently. Quote
fgw Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 The two guys mentioned that they got an 'OK' from the state park to put up a route there. Guess I can stop looking up at that face trying to pick out the line/bolts now. thanks. Quote
layton Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 I chopped all the bolts on the 1st class aid route to the top known as the "trail" Careful on those railings guys! Quote
