EWolfe Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 An Old Chestnut, I know. But it IS chestnut season... Here's Mine: Others? Maybe You Had Already Thought Of This Knotted roping for difficult sections of approaches. Rope Rugs! Has anyone ever actually made one of these? Mtngrrl's Choice Quote
lancegranite Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Make an "adventure rope". 50 feet is enough to get you in trouble. Good for leading or protecting bouldery or exposed short moves on easier ground. Quote
jordop Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Find a really mossy, chossy crag and hang yer old ropes on them so you can say its your project Quote
selkirk Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 Actually made one of the rope rug/mat's. Looks pretty cool, the hard part is keeping it together though. You almost have to sew it down onto some sort of backing to keep it from kind of falling apart as the coils pop out of position. Quote
mtngrrrl Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 When our cats wore out the sisal on their cat-scratching post, I rewrapped it in climbing ropes. They like it OK. I've also made a small rug by looping rope into a flat coil and whip-stitching it together with embroidery thread and a curved needle. It doesn't take very long, and it's easy. You, too, could make a fabulous rope rug! Just PM me for the materials and you could carpet your whole house and your neighbor's too... Quote
RuMR Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 I've also made a small whip- it's easy. You, too, could make one! Just PM me for the materials ... Quote

Very cleaver! Quote
