layton Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Gene, 1st, you are going to die. 2nd, i met some folks coming of the Betolius route (N.F.) two weeks ago and said it wasn't bad. Bring a stubbie screw or two just in case. Rap anchors on the gully down. Quote

dberdinka Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 i met some folks coming of the Betolius route (N.F.) two weeks ago and said it wasn't bad. I hear that route rocks! Best looking line on Shuksan IMHO. Quote
layton Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 too bad my partner didn't think so at about the river crossing... Quote
dberdinka Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 That's a little too late and a little too early in the game to be bailing! Quote
genepires Posted August 7, 2004 Author Posted August 7, 2004 Sounds like I am going to die by either drowning crossing the creek or riding the big rocks as the moutnain dissloves in the rain.......Good times! Quote
mattp Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Its got some bad rock on it, but Nooksack Tower is in my opinion one of the coolest objectives in the Cascades. The Bertulis route is fantastic and the Beckey/Schmidke is probably worth doing too we descended that way when I climbed the Bertulis route and it looked pretty good). There is a great bivvy spot right below the tower, seen in the background of this picture. Quote
mattp Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Here's the photo. The bivvy is on a rock tower/promontory right below Nooksack Tower. We camped down near the lake and wished we had stayed up here when we saw how cool it was (and the Bert route is kinda long). Quote
