cracked Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 I bought a bike. I'm turning into Dave Schuldt. Still gotta buy a bowl, though. Damn that ride felt good. Since I'm not going to get my ass kicked in the mountains this weekend... Quote
Distel32 Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 you must learn the token symbol  you dirtay hippay son of a bitch!  what next!? endorsing Kerry!? Quote
cracked Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 what next!? endorsing Kerry!? I'm going to be sick. Then, I'm going to buy a hummer. Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 JESUS THAT IS ONE FREAKY PIC  yup mmmm hmmmmmm Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Whoa, hold up! Â No way Paul, you can't officially nominate yourself for the granola guerilla until you get clipless pedals for that bad-boy... Â One of these wouldn't hurt, either... Â () Quote
cracked Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 Does Dave Schuldt use one? Â Re: freaky pic, you need to chill out, Justin. It's just a bike. Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Tell ya what Paul, since you're not getting your mountain workout this weekend, ride it up here so I can have a look... Â Oh yeah and now that you have a road bike you have to start following the TDF, and riding around everywhere in a brightly colored racing jersey just like Lance! Â Man I am shit-talking up a storm here. I must really be bored... Hmm but seriously, maybe we should get you some clipless pedals and go on a road ride tomorrow... Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 (edited) Here's my ride, except it has clipless pedals and 23's instead of 20's now. Â Â I don't feel that I'm cool enough for the messenger bag or the racing jersey yet... Edited July 18, 2004 by ashw_justin Quote
cracked Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 d00d my bike is sexier....c'mon down and I'll show you how I RIP IT UP on a bike. Â Those skinny little tires don't absorb much shock...and my shoulders need to get used to the low position. Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 (edited) I'm telling you man, those clipless pedals are sweet. A little stressful in stop-and-go traffic though. Â And your bike may be a young sexy virgin, but mine's got mature grace, and that irrestible Bianchi celeste! Edited July 18, 2004 by ashw_justin Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 (edited) Yes baby cracked I have a mesenger bag. (I was a mesenger in Seattle for 3 years) Very handy around town. Get mountain bike clipless, easier to get in and out of and shoes are better for walking. Let's go for a ride sometime. That's not a hippy bike BTW. Edited July 18, 2004 by Dave_Schuldt Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Me too! Me too! Â I got the road pedals/shoes because they were on sale, $40 for Shimano SPD-R and $17 for road shoes. Lighter too, until you factor in the tennis shoes in your backpack... Quote
cracked Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 Ahhh, went for another ride, in the opposite direction on the BGT. I shoulda gotten this bike five months ago. Â I went for a road bike because the thing will never get out of the city. Quote
ashw_justin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 He was saying put mountain-style clipless pedals on your road bike. The shoes won't go -click-clack- like mine when you walk. Â What's the BGT? Did you see any guys in Lycra and seizure-inducing racing jerseys? Quote
willstrickland Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 I have a Giant OCR-1, from 2001, a couple of years before that one. Basically the same bike with a little higher component set. They hadn't put shaped seatstays on them at that point, the ride is more harsh. Forks are straight-blade carbons, Shimano 105 flightdeck throughout. Â Ditto on the mtn-bike pedals. I ride road pedals and shoes on mine, but I put my Time ATAC mtn pedals on there for a while and it's much better if you're running errands or going to class or something. Â Here's the bike: Quote
pope Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Forget the clipless pedals. Forget about queer little shoes that go "clack clack clack" when you walk. Wanna be a cool guy? Want the gals to hear your coming? Just get some old playing cards and a clothes pin. Â Quote
cracked Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 He was saying put mountain-style clipless pedals on your road bike. The shoes won't go -click-clack- like mine when you walk. Ahhh, gotcha. Â What's the BGT? Did you see any guys in Lycra and seizure-inducing racing jerseys? Burke-Gilman Trail. No, but I passed a bunch of gapers. Â Will's bike is prettier than mine! Quote
chirp Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Got an old pair of Onza Mountain pedals on the beast, custom cut MR tuffys and an A5 sticker on the seat tube... one burly ride in deed! 98% 1995 C-Record Equipped. Â Shameless Bike porn: Drool: 1978 nuovo record rear end Quote
