Fairweather Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Kerry rides a Harley. Bush can't even ride a mountain bike without crashing. (Actually, the one thing I admire about Bush is that he is fit ...a runner. I'm still voting against him tho'.) A Harley?!? Those air-cooled V-Twins pump more shit into the air we breathe than a Hummer H2, I'll bet. And if I recall, Kerry also crashed his bicycle last year. Really messed up his hair I guess. Quote
cj001f Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Are you implying that the Kennebunkport place is owned GW? ...Even when you know it belongs to Bush Sr.? Clever use of the language Cj. Michael Moore would be proud. On the other hand, Kerry owns five estates/vacation homes worth over 35 million dollars and owns nive vehicles including a few SUV's. Fairweather- Yeah it's his Dad's place. He vacations there regularly. He made his money trading on the family coattails. And now he has his retreats on our tax dollars (ever seen Camp David?!) Neither man has dealt with the common man in years. edit: They don't even allow climbing on the rocks in the National Park where Camp David is. Quote
JoshK Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I'm guessing cj's point is that the shit bashing kerry cause he is rich is bullshit. He's right, bush comes from a rich family too. He was spoiled like shit. So great, they are both rich as hell and have a lot of privilage. Give it up as a kerry bashing technique, they are both the same in that regard. Also, RIP to the murdered soldier, but I dont see what this has to do with Bush or Kerry? sailBOI, welcome to the forum. I haven't seen anybody regurgitate more shit than you in a while. If you wanna support the right side, talk to fairweather, gotter, greg or some of the others with those views who actually know about what they are talking about. Quote

The difference is that Kerry-and Democrats in general-try to claim "common man" status...most likely to appeal to their union member constituents. Honestly, I have no problem whatsoever with wealthy candidates...from either party. But one particular party seems intent on trying to portray themselves as something they are not. Additionally, they support ideas and rules for the general public that they aren't willing to uphold in their own lives. (ie: Driving away from an environmental policy speech in a Chevy Suburban.) So what's Bush's faux common-man manner of speech? It's not the speech of someone educated at Andover and Yale! The Democrats (and Kerry) may try (or pretend) to support the common man. Bush pretend's to BE the common man. While sticking them in the back (see Veteran's Benefit's) Quote

(ie: Driving away from an environmental policy speech in a Chevy Suburban.) A-fucking-men to this. It certainly is fair to say that "lead by example" seems to be dead. Obviously Arnold was a pretty good example of this crap. My favorite thing is people saying bush is good cause he comes across as a regular guy rather than a well-educated fancy man. If being a regular guy entails not being able to deliver a speech well, than I'd rather have the fancy guy! I am watching the West Wing right now. Damn, I wish I could vote for President Bartlet. He makes you realize what a bunch of shitpiles we have now. Quote
Skeezix Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 ...one particular party seems intent on trying to portray themselves as something they are not. Actually, I think Dems/Kerry are trying to portray themselves as representing the interests of someone they're not. Big difference. Bush barely tries to hide that he's representing the interests of big bidness. Actually, I take that back. He fought the release of the invitees to the table to write energy policy all the way to the Supreme Court (sound of ducks quacking). Kenny Lay has W on speed dial. And I wonder if Big Drug lobby had anything to do with Medicare changes? Quote

Suburbans (and big sedans) are popular because you can armor them and they still handle relatively well. Look at the windows next time - if you see alot of distortion, it's armored. Quote

Where the hell did I say I thought it was reality? It's a show based on the premise that it just may be possible to get a decent guy in office that can actually do some good for the country. Quote

sailBOI Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 OK, he seems to not be too bright, but he is smart enough to DRIVE THE LIBERALS CRAZY ! "New York Post columnist John Podhoretz has equal amounts of love for George W. Bush and scorn for Bush's prominent liberal critics. In this energetic defense of the president, he paints a picture of Bush as being much cagier and politically clever than some of the more well-known voices on the left give him credit for." http://hallnonfiction.com/store/books_0312324723_Bush-Country--How-Dubya-Became-a-Great-President-While-Driving-Liberals-Insane.html Quote

It's a bit like a Knighthood - you receive it when someone feels you've accumulated enough Brownie Points. Rachel Carson, Jimmy Carter, JFK and LBJ have all won the Freedom Medal Quote
sailBOI Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Rachel Carson, Jimmy Carter, JFK and LBJ have all won the Freedom Medal EXACTLY, all liberal Democrats, so Podhertz defense of Bush is all that much more important ! Quote
murraysovereign Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Among his many awards, Podhertz is a Medal of Freedom winner Gosh, you're right - awarded to him by... GWB. That must be quite the flattering portrayal of him in that book, for the President to go to all the trouble of rewarding him with the Medal of Freedom. Quote
