Blake Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 when did people start using or needing stuff sacks for a rolled-up pad? Quote
Thrill Posted May 11, 2004 Author Posted May 11, 2004 they have been using them since i can remember, dude. you roll em up and put um in the sack.. protects them better. when have people not used a stuff sack for a thermarest? Quote
Bug Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 I do not use stuff sacks for anything. Saves weight. I roll the 3/4 ultralight thermarest up to deflate it, tighten the valve and line my pack with it. Quote
Thrill Posted May 11, 2004 Author Posted May 11, 2004 sounds reasonable.. some would argue that things in your pack could puncture your thermarest... it's your deal though. either way these come with stuff sacks. Quote
Bug Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 Yes. Definately put your ice ax and crampons on the outside. Quote
jon Posted May 13, 2004 Posted May 13, 2004 I replaced the stock foam bad in one of my packs with one of these and it works great. Quote
Thrill Posted May 13, 2004 Author Posted May 13, 2004 jon.... that sound cool! good going dude. yeah for still for sale. Quote
marylou Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Stuff sacks are for food and little stuff. Otherwise, you pack way better, and save weight not using them IMO. I do use a crampon bag for the crampons, and would like to get rid of that bag. Short of duct taping every point (dumb) is there any way to pack them so they don't trash your stuff? Quote
boatskiclimbsail Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 You can strap them on the outside of your pack if it has straps in the appropriate place (points out!) or get some of those nifty little rubber point guard trees. I've never really liked them myself. I still pack my crampons in a bag with a plastic sheet in the bottom if I'm just day-climbing on vertical stuff. I leave it home if I'm going to be walking on them most of the day anyway. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 i use a stuffsack for my thermarest. i like it that way. Quote
