iain Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 helpful response! Â My tele friends seem to like BD sabertooths since you can extend the frontpoints by moving the wire bail back a notch. Quote
schnitzem Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Have you checked out Armond DeBuque's Ultimate Telemark Binding? They come with crampons. Â I think they are scary.....and so did the AT skiers who skied mowich face with him....but hell he skied mowich face! Â http://www.telemarktips.com/UTB.html Quote
cj001f Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Sabertooths work well, Grivel 2F's work alright. Â You can get more frontpoint with Sabertooth's. Quote
Figger_Eight Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Are you talking about crampons for your boots, or ski crampons that will work for tele gear? If it's the latter, I'm still searching for a good solution! Quote
cj001f Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 If it's the latter, I'm still searching for a good solution! If your ski waist is less than 70mm or so, the Sk'Alp ski crampons work quite well. I think the new K2 riser is compatible with Dynafit crampons as well. Quote
snoboy Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 The K2 riser is dynafit crampon compatible, but apparently it's also heavy, and only works with three hole bindings. Quote
cj001f Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 but apparently it's also heavy, So's "modern" tele gear. Quote
snoboy Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 true... true. I meant in comparision to other risers. Of course, if he wanted light he'd have gone AT. Quote
pete_a Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 If you're looking for ski crampons for tele gear to use with any tele binding, you can take your skis to Pro Ski and they can mount a little plastic clip that will accept Dynafit ski crampons...they fit it in just behind your tele bindings, its really slick, and the clips probably only weigh and ounce or two. Hal_Burton Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 I picked up some SuperLoops with crampons this winter. The crampons work well, but I have had some dramatic failures where one or both crampons detatch and hurl back down the slope and almost send me with them. I'd look for something with a more positive attachment. These are held on by mid-boot presure. Guess what. When you're on your lifts, that pressure or goes away! And you poons with it! I'll keep using these, just need to swage some keeper leashes onto them. Quote
