marylou Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Hey, we are doing a little family ski trip tomorrow and Sunday. Plan is to night ski at Ski Bowl Sat. Night and then do Meadows on Sunday. Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay that's fairly cheap and not all that bad? It could be as far away as Gresham, but closer would be pretty cool too. TIA. Quote
Jim Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Sandy Best Western - stayed there many a times for field work in Mt. Hood NF. Quote
marylou Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 I looked at the Huck's website, looks a bit spendy at 40 bucks to sleep in a bunk. This Beast Western, is it cheapish? We stayed in one last w/e in Wenatchee and it was like 80 bucks! Quote

Dru Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 there always the plastic-bag newspaper and cardboard-box method perfected by the homeless. having copious body hair and not washing apparently helps too (insulating grease layer) Quote
sketchfest Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 The Hucks rooms are big plus you get the added bonus of being just a short walk away from the restaurant and a short stack of yummy huckleberry pancakes Quote
cj001f Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 I looked at the Huck's website, looks a bit spendy at 40 bucks to sleep in a bunk. Mazamas is $20 Quote
marylou Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 Can you stay at Mazamas if you are not a member? Yes, 40 bucks a head gets spendy when you are talking about 3-4 adults and 3 kids. That's 240 or 280 for one night. Car camping with kids this time of year sounds like not a lot of fun. Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Try the Hood River Hotel. They have rooms at around 65 and you get half-priced lift tickets to meadows. Quote
marylou Posted March 27, 2004 Author Posted March 27, 2004 Rob, thanks. I found a listing of a whole bunch of places in HR that are part of that program. Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 27, 2004 Posted March 27, 2004 Hood River Hotel has the added cache of being a historic site and has suites that one could easily crowd 10 people in. And they allow dogs in some of their rooms. Quote
Ducknut Posted March 27, 2004 Posted March 27, 2004 The Hucks rooms are big plus you get the added bonus of being just a short walk away from the restaurant and a short stack of yummy huckleberry pancakes I'll bet you can't eat anything more than a short stack. Quote
sketchfest Posted March 27, 2004 Posted March 27, 2004 I tried once after a Hood climb, but I gave it AaaaaLL back in the parking lot before I could even get in the car....tragedy....pure tragedy. Quote
