I thought this was a really well written piece in the latest Seattle Weekly. Thoughts?

"From here in the ‘None Zone,’ a feeling of helplessness as religious warriors relentlessly reshape the world."

Why should you feel helpless when atheism and agnosticism combined are the fastest growing "religious affiliation" in the developed world (well, except the USA the_finger.gif) rockband.gif

Very scary, thanks for the links. Growing up in the church I always heard about Gods love for us and how we should love and respect others. Where is the love in the Apocoliptic brand of Christanity? BTW I gave up on religon 20 years ago.

All of Bush's speaches will wind up as terrorist recruiting aids.

It too was indoctrinated as a kid in religion (catholicism). I wonder how many atheists were indoctrinated as children and then largely through education / exploration / curiosty-seeking turned the other way. Do any children ever start off life as atheists?

Back to the topic at hand though...I was thinking more about it last night and I wonder if there really is this methodical sinister plot underway being fueled by these right-wing radicals (Cheney, Rove, Bush, et al) where they use Christianity to frame up this battle as a means to bring on board a largely reilgious middle-America or if their bumbling actions are nothing more than a series of mis-steps where their religious affiliations are a crutch to fall back on when times are tough? In other words, their bible is really their Idiots Guide to Empire Building.

Go read everything that Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz has written over his storied career, and the actions of the current administration will begin to make a little more sense.

W. is a born-again, but not all neocons are born-again. Religion is just a convenient framework to drape over foreign policy decsions.

Start here, and note the date (pre-9/11).

Wolfowitz just drips with arrogance. Ya know, this guy and his buddies, who never got dirt in their fingernails their whole life, should be required to do a tour of grunt work in Iraq before they start drawing all over the world map again.
