Gary_Yngve Posted June 2, 2004 Author Posted June 2, 2004 Yeah, the printer in the lab made them overly blue. I printed them out a few minutes beforehand so I didn't have any time to play color-correction games. Quote

Gary_Yngve Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 If you do go, PM me and I'll hook you up with info. I was traveling there during off-season. Peak season starts after the solstice. In peak season, you will find vegetation that is green instead of brown, much less snow, way more tourists, and more frequent ferry/bus schedules. (During off-season, some ferry/bus routes are just one per day, so careful planning is needed.) Quote

Himalay Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Hello Gary! I have read your story about climbing in Lofoten. It is the very beutiful place and I will be there too and want to repeat your path. Unfortunately pictures with your GSP track don't load (I mean the map which you have posted on the washington_edu forum). Can you post it again? It would be great! rediculous Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I don't have access to it currently. The topo maps are free at http://gammel.norgeskart.no//adaptive2/default.aspx?gui=1&lang=1 I approached the hut from A (accent omitted on iPhone), scrambled nearby peaks by obvious routes, hiked around the fjord to the nice beach, hiked some more. Boat back to Reine. Quote
chris Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Himalay, you may also check with Northern Alpine Guides, LINK. The owner is an ex-pat American, they offer year-around services, and are a great source for beta. Quote
jcocci Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) The wife and I are headed to Norway in August. Going to spend 7 or 8 days in Lofoten. Any other beta you can add? Just starting to look into this now. We haven't decided 100% if we are going to bring climbing gear as we've got some other stuff we are going to do. The plan at the moment is to fly into Harstad and rent a car for the time we are in Lofoten. I tired looking at he links in this thread but most of them didn't work. If we don't bring gear anyone have some recommendations for some scrambles and hikes? Thanks. Edited June 18, 2014 by jcocci Quote
chris Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) jcocci, most of the links on this thread are 10 years old! I promise the link I supplied does. Edited June 20, 2014 by chris Quote
glassgowkiss Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Northern Alpine Guides- Seth is super nice guy, formerly from Bellingham. He can provide all the local beta. Quote
