Thrashador Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 When the freezing rain hits all bets are off. If the trees in the yard aren't yet trimmed then they will be soon. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 6, 2004 Author Posted January 6, 2004 I think I heard Portland is getting freezing rain already. Quote
sk Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 I think I heard Portland is getting freezing rain already. had the freezing rain this am. it was nasty. I just got done shoveling my drive way, had to break threw the layer of ice to get at the snow. But I think it may be comming to an end as it seems to just be raining now. We shall see. Quote
rhino Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 i had a half inch of ice to scrape off when i got out of work Quote
sk Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 it is an ice skating rink out there! Bring on the warm air Quote
EWolfe Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 A panic of "emergency shoppers" cleaned my local grocery of produce, breads, etc. Â Checkout person asked me if i was "stocking up" Â "No. Just some shopping..." Â "Haven't you seen the news? There's a BIG storm coming" Â Â Reactive, disconnected TV culture plays out it's drama yet again. Quote
sk Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 ya it is like a 12 hour storm... GOD THEY MIGHT STARVE according to weatherdotcom it is going to warm up here tonight and should warm up there tomorrow. don't people keep food in their house??? Quote
scott_harpell Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 God forbid you fat fuckers ever walk anywhere. Quote
griz Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 You're lame ass storm and lame ass drivers are making news here in CO! How sad is that, people? When I lived up there ,we had one little 4"-5" snow in Seattle and most of the people at work called in. Frickin' sad...you'd think you all lived in florida or something. Even people with big 4wd trucks bailed... Quote
EWolfe Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Trust me Griz, the locals can handle it - it's the recently relocated that give us a bad name. Quote
Thrashador Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 PDX is an ice cube on top of 5-7 inches of snow. My hats off to Hawthorne Starfucks, the US Postal Service, and Mt. Hood Ski bowl and all ya'll who schlepped up there last night. Â Oh, and lets not forget the tender at the Stube who fashions a mofo of a hot toddy! He more than made up for the chicks at the upper hut who tried to serve us frozen beer - clue: if you leave the keg outside when it's windchill factor of -10, it will freeze.... Quote
allthumbs Posted January 7, 2004 Author Posted January 7, 2004 griz, eat shit. most of us old timers know to stay home and drink hot toddies. Quote
Dan_Harris Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Hot buttered rums. Make my own batter. Except it isn't very cold or rainy or snowy here right now. In fact it is quite nice and sunny. Quote
