JUSTO Posted November 2, 2003 Share Posted November 2, 2003 How many of you ice climbers carry a third tool? I always carry an extra for fear of dropping one and being screwed without an extra. I stopped bringing one along and I broke a pick 30 feet out from the belay on the third pitch of the Black Dike[ 5- Cannon Cliff, New Hampshire ] .Had to down climb on the stump, then borrow one of my partners tools to finish the lead.I might just start carrying a third tool again.
