MATT_B Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 Next week my girlfriend and I are headed to Lewisburg West Verginia. About All I know of the area is that New River Gorge is somewhere close by. We will be visiting her family and it sounds like they will be playing tour guide. I'm not sure how much time I will have to go climbing but I would like to at least give it a try. My question is what's in that area? Sport, trad, what ever. My girlfriend climbs about 5.6 on a good day so there has to be some stuff for her too. Thanx in advance for the info. Quote

Ursa_Eagle Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 I'd also say look into the caving around there (WV, not NRG specifically), it's awesome!! Quote
Rodchester Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 If you hear dueling banjos coming from your girlfriend's house...run. Does she ever say things like, "well, I was with my brother-daddy when .... " Quote

Lummox hit it on the head...you can find anything you want there for craggin...and its all 5 star stuff on bullet hard quartzite...bring a light rack, 15 draws and a 65m rope and you'll be stoked! bird Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 If you want to brush up on local culture you should watch a movie called Gummo. Quote
cj001f Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 If your looking for climbs of a trad persuasion another place to check out is Seneca Rocks (&Nelson Rocks http://www.nelsonrocks.org/ ) - they've low grade trad routes. Is crowded on the weekends, to warn you. Quote
EWolfe Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 West Virginia also has more nudists than any other state. Place is crawling with nudie camps, so you can drop 'em without worry. Quote
