  1. Hello. I matched with a climbing partner here a bunch of years ago and thought I would try it again. I am looking for a couple of people who want to climb the Camp Muir Cleaver route on Rainer in July 2022. I wrote in to one person on this thread, but then I realized later that he was posting an interest for 2021. Ooops. I have been ON Rainier three times, first time with RMI but bad weather turned us around at about 12.5k on the Direct route. I went back up two more times unguided but a member of our party experienced severe altitude sickness both times at about 12k and I turned us around both times. I have hiked up Longs peak several times (no snow/ice, but same basic height as Rainier), hiked up some weird ones like Ben Nevis Scotland a few times, Mount Whitney after several years in the lottery, and spent a month in the Himalayas in Nepal two different years, crossing over several 18k+ high mountian passes each time. I am 56. I know that the Camp Muir route will be the Cleaver by July. I would really like to get all the way up after three failed attempts, but if it isn't right, it isn't right. I just want to, don't NEED to. I have a new person to mountaineering who is the son of a friend. He is about 35 and very enthusiastic. The rest of my climbing partners of the past are no longer available due to new jobs, new babies in the house, etc. I would love to find two people to fill out the team to go this year. I am taking my young friend up to Longs Peak in early July to spend some time being high up, Chasm Lake, camping at the Boulder field, summiting at some point, just to see how he does with altitude, and so he can learn what various altitude body cues feel like. If we are able to form a Rainier team, I am planning on working with my young friend on basics before the trip and making sure he understands the deal. I do not feel comfortable going up without two more people who have at least some mountaineering experience. If you are interested please let me know. Thank you. 2. Hey guys my name's Mike I'm from Montreal and looking to summit Rainier after years of postponing due to covid. I have glacier travel experience and 18,000ft+. I also have all necessary equipment including a MH Trango Assault tent if needed. I will be in Seattle area doing some volcano's and Rainier. 3. I am looking for some people to climb Rainier with in first part of July 2021. Anyone interested?
  4. Hey everybody, my name is Austin and I live in Hood River. Myself and three others are looking to climb the South Side Hogsback route of Mt. Hood next week and we are looking for someone with experience climbing this route to come along. We all have moderate exp, having climbed Adams, Shasta, and several 14ers in CO. However, would feel more comfortable climbing with someone who knows the route. All of us are in mid-20's and are in good shape but cannot afford the guide services. That being said, we could probably throw $100 bucks and a case of wine at our fellow adventurer. Cheers, Austin
  5. Hello fellow climbers. I am a beginner/intermediate rock climber living in Tualatin, Oregon hoping to advance my skills with other local climber(s) at the Madrone Wall (Carver, Oregon) on Wednesday/Friday/Saturday afternoons or Sundays. Currently climbing comfortably at about 5.8 level with belaying, and setting gear. I have full set of cams, nuts, new 9.5mm/60m rope and truck for transportation. Looking for partner with similar skill level living nearby wanting to increase skill level and practice a lot together.
  6. Looking for a trad climbing partner, for regular weekend trips every other weekend throughout 2020. I have a triple rack, tiny new z4's to big bros, 20 Years of experience, and enthusiasm to get out and explore. At the moment I'm out of shape after winter and climbing 5.10d Trad. I'd like to work up to regularly cruising 5.11 Multipitch routes, comfortably climbing 5.12 single pitch this season. Also available at Vertical World North for training weekday evenings. Feel free to contact me at 509-449-8753 or elihamblet@gmail.com with questions or introductions. Thanks, Eli Hamblet
  7. I'm looking for a couple more partners for pretty much weekly single days out climbing, mostly in Washington Pass. I plan to climb almost every Friday, and will generally drive up Thursday evenings and camp. (I can do other days too.) Over the last couple summers I've climbed Beckey Route, SW Rib of SEWS, North Face of Burgundy, Prime Rib of Goat and Petit Cheval and want to do a handful more such days this coming summer. I prefer routes out in the mountains where you feel a bit removed and am not so interested in crag areas. It's just work and family that make it tricky to find time for longer trips. When I started climbing I took the very thorough Southern California Mountaineering Association's safety course and safety has always been very important to me. I'd really like to find another two or three climbers who can also regularly get out for a full day midweek. I'd propose that we meet for lunch and sort out some plans and then start on something familiar and then go from there. We can also meet at Vertical World. I'm 41 and live in Seattle. I started climbing about six years ago, but because of work and little kids have had a hard time getting out more than five days a year or so. This year I'll finally be able to get out a lot more. I hope to get started in April and then go weekly starting in May. Brendan
  8. Hi there, My name is Gobind, I'm 22 years old, and I've been climbing for a little under a year. I currently climb around 5.9-5.10 in the gym and have lead 5.5 outdoors. I'm looking for a partner who I could climb with maybe a few times a week at Crux Rock Gym in Eugene OR (or get on some real rock when the weather is nice at The Columns, Flagstone, or Smith). My main goal currently is to gain more experience leading (and falling on lead). I also would like to get into trad climbing, but only have sport climbing equipment at the moment. If you're looking for a climbing partner who will actually come through and not bail then look no further. I hope to see some of you out there at the crag in the future! Best, Gobind
  9. Dear All, We are visiting OHSU in Portland for work, on July 18. Would love to stay to do some mountaineering between Portland and Vancouver till July 23. I'm an experienced mountaineer, but have never been to Pacific North West. Looking for a reliable partner - Mount Rainier would be an obvious target, but happy to join any other trip - Hood, Olympus, Adams, Jefferson, Baker... between Portland and Vancouver. . See below some basic info about me. Just PM me if you are in the area on those days, and open to potentially team up ! Thanks Vaclav About me: - Entrepreneur/CEO of a medtech company based in Oxford UK,. - Member Academic Alpine Club Zurich (AACZ), Oxford University Mountaineering Club, Austrian Alpine Club. - Have climbed 40+ peaks of comparable or higher difficulty to Rainier at 4000m-7000m elevation.Experience gained mostly in the Alps, Andes, Caucasus, Pamir, Altay. - Physically demanding but not very technical climb on French PD or AD would be ideal for this trip. I have done routes up to French D, but would not be as ambitious with unknown people - Highly safety conscious. Every couple of years i repeat glacier rescue training, and have real-world experience in rescue situations involving other climbers/skiers. - At the moment, i do not plan to bring skis given reported poor snow conditions, but could.
  10. Looking for climbing partner for June 24-26 for Rainier, Baker, Shuksan, or Mt. Olympus. Previous glacier experience required. I have x2 snow pickets, 3P tent, 40m dry rope, ice screw. I do NOT have a car. Send me a text if you're interested. 305-608-4006.
  11. Looking for a fairly experienced partner to climb Rainier with between May 11 and May 17. Will be traveling out from Wyoming looking to climb Hood, Shasta or other Cascade peaks in addition to Rainier conditions and time permitting. Never climbed in the Cascades before. I have climbed other glaciated peaks including Gannett and Pico de Orizaba and have training on crevasse rescue, avalanche safety and rescue, roped travel etc. Let me know if you are interested and available.
  12. I'm based in California but spend a good amount of time in the NW - have summited Rainier via DC, and Mt Shasta twice via West Face & Avy Gulch. All of these climbs I've done guided and have been given skills courses on all three, and I feel like Ive finally gathered the necessary skills to climb with a partner and not a guide, but I'm not 100% confident in my navigation and rope management skills. Looking for a partner who I can climb Hood south side with this May who may be able to mentor me a bit when it comes to navigation and rope management, and if it works out, partner up for more adventures this summer! Thanks everyone!!
  13. Passing through the Smith Rock/Bend area the afternoon of the 20th, on my way down to Cali with a couple pups. I'll be camping in the area and would love to get some climbing in on the 21st if anyone is interested! Just looking to get out and enjoy whatever I have time for! I am just coming back from a back injury so I won't be doing anything above a 10d/11a, but I'm happy to belay for whatever! Hit me up and let me know! Even if it's just for a couple pints on my way through Bend.
  14. I've been climbing for 15 years, I lead climb Trad / Sport 5.8 - 5.11 mostly. Looking for someone to climb with in Western Washington, my climbing partner moved and I need to get on the rock. I live in Anacortes near Mt. Erie, I can meet up anywhere from Bellingham to the Cascades down to Hwy 2 and to Eastern, WA on the weekends. broberts.spatialagent@gmail.com
  15. I am in Portland for the summer and am new to the area. I am looking for someone to let me tag along or guide me up Mt Hood on either 7-7 or 7-8. I’m in good shape and have done many 14ers in CO. This seems like new exciting challenge. I’d buy you a beer afterwards!
  16. All done. Just don't know how to take the post down.
  17. I'm on the road and planning so spend late June and most of July in the PNW. I already have plans to ski Rainier with a friend, but besides that I would be down for any skiing or Alpine climbing. I'm available all week and pretty flexible with traveling. I have AIARE 1 and companion rescue. 10+ years experience sports, big wall and Alpine climbing. Have crevasse rescue training as well. I have all my gear including full rock rack with me. Let me know if you are interested.
  18. Im looking for a partner to ski tour the south side climbing route of Hood, with the goal to summit Mt Hood on 5/25. l'll be leaving from Portland around 11pm-Midnight 5/24 (Thursday, night before and am more than happy to pick you up and carpool) and plan on starting on the trail from Timberline around 1am. I'm relatively new to ski mountaineering, with two seasons under my belt, but Ive done St Helens, Broken Top and Mt Washington before. Mt Hood is my current white whale. I've gone up to Hogsback twice but have turned back due to lame conditions one time and equipment failure another. Looking for a buddy to try and summit this thing for real this time!
  19. Looking for an ice partner in Southern Idaho, currently in Boise but obviously can meet at the crag. I am safe with a buttload of gear. PM if interested!
