  1. He also has a second store in Yakima. That's where I first met John.
  2. I bet you meet a lot of guys at truck stops, sobo. So, at what truck stop would you like to meet me, olyboi...?
  3. I think I can just barely see Simpson's crevasse on the left there... W: Mostly correct. After you attach the photo and post your post, go back and click on the attachment to open the photo, then right-click on it and select "Copy Image Location" from the drop down menu to store it into your buffer. Then edit your post and select the "Image" UBB code to paste the URL into it, then re-post. That's it in a nutshell.
  4. AR_Guy, What JosephH said, completely. He and I, although we've never met/talked, sound like kindred spirits in this regard. PS: just out of curiousity, what does the "AR" stand for? I knew a guy years ago at VA Tech who was nicknamed "AR". It stood for Air Rappel, because once he forgot to check his rap set-up before going over the edge, and he "air rappelled" to the ground. He lived, obviously... ...and hated the nickname.
  5. Lightning Dome is on the SF of the Clearwater River south of Grangeville, just off US 95. It's about 75 miles south of Lewiston, ID. Here's a pic of one of my friends following me up Bastille (5/6 pitches, 5.8 A0, 5.9+, 5.11) from back in the early 1990s (those are cars down there in the shade by the river): And another from the same time period when I claimed the FNA of Midnight Fright (5.9): My poor belayer... nothing but butt shots for her... And another from the Bastille: And yet one final one of me on the upper arch pitch of Bastille: Now you are getting the idea...?
  6. Chill out, ALLCAPS, I thought the comments were amusing. And you can't rag on a guy who self-effaces as the butt of his own joke.
  7. Are you referring to vie ferrate?
  8. "fucking" is used as an adverb in this context, not a verb. Zero points for syntax. Class dismissed.
  9. Thought so. The Nick should fire that little bitch.
  10. Upon recent inspection of my route topo horde, I can now confirm that the topo below (from shapp's second post, above) is the same topo that I ripped out of the R&I rag years ago that I refer to in my post above. Now go get some!
  11. welllll... I've always climbed with shoes on...
  12. You haven't climbed at Lightning Dome yet, have you, Oleg? That could change your view... I'm not shitting on Beacon or anything like that...
  13. Was it the same bitchy waitress that was there when I went to my one and only PC last February??
  14. Me? I drove to Lightning Dome on the SF Clearwater River in Ideeho on Saturday afternoon and met a new climbing partner (courtesy of John at Hyperspud) at the Flying J in Lewiston. We did a sweet 10a multi-pitch route on Sunday and finished with an epic descent in the dark sans headlamps. Then went back on Monday for some casual trad one-pitchers.
  15. FINALLY! Proof that archenemy is a gurl: Either that, or he's gay and wears Praw-nah tops...
  16. please, I'll pay you anything to remove that hardcore corno...
  17. From my experience, albeit somewhat limited in this regard, I have put in FAs from the ground up, and respecting the local ethics. This goes for trad routes as well as the (very few) bolted lines I have put up. And I use an "old skewl" hand drill/hammer set-up. Yah, it takes forever, but that's half the fun.
  18. Martin, viktor has the mean beta. Go to Goat Dome, you'll love it. It's a way of life... Don't miss the "stellar first pitch" of Knobs of Shame, but do it on lead. Way fun, but watch out for the bat/bird shit in the cave! FYI, the slabs on the upper tier seem soft for the grade (2nd/3rd pitch of KoS, Quarks in Question, Black Sheets of Rain, Jitterbug Boy, and Friction Addiction) and are really well protected.
  19. Jeezus, peepul, lemme get the photos back from Costco, ferchrissakes... Long story short: Had a badass bitchin' first day on the full-length Brown Sugar (10a), then epic'ed on the descent. Got back to the truck at 10:45. Fat Tires never tasted so good. Casual second day doing some short trad lines (5.6 through 5.9). I LOVE the South Fork. On our drive out of the canyon, we spotted a re-start of the blaze that ravaged the area about 2-3 weeks ago. Reported it to a passing sherriff. Felt good about doing that.
