  1. Yep, I think you do have my book. You better give it back, or I'll never learn to read.
  2. Ah, but Foxy, you neglect to savor the fact that WC has made a 'keylock' biner. What could be finer?
  3. Yeah, when the modle beinf, you know it's time to get a new belay device! I do hear a lot of people trash the Jaws, which baffles me. It's exactly the same as the ATC, unless you use the teeth, in which case it's similar to the ATC-XP. Whatever. If anyone else wants to unload those lousy Jaws, drop me a line; I use 'em for teaching newbie friends how to belay.
  4. Fine- I'll hook you up with the meds of your choice.
  5. My day-dreams have been filled with images of climbing clean rock in the sunshine lately. It's time for me to lay the groundwork for a cool vacation to someplace sunny, mellow, and relaxing. Lots of friends have gone to Krabi etal, and that sounds nice, but I was also curious about southern Europe. Anyone here have any experience or advice regarding climbing in Spain, Italy, or Greece? Specifically I was looking at Sardinia, Mallorca, Kalymnos, etc. It would be ideal to mix some longer routes (Dolomites) with some relaxing cragging on the beach. Anyone got stories to share?
  6. Ouch. Ouch. Mommy, make the bad thoughts go away!!!
  7. Cool. Thinker, you get the beer of your choice at the next Pub Club. Damn, this is why I love diversity of thought. It gets me schwag.
  8. The SBG is a piece of shit. Don't waste your time. The stem on the SBG is too short, causing way too much friction on the rope. However, I wouldn't sleep well if I didn't put in a plug for my favorite device, the Trango Jaws. Just like the ATC, with the option of additional friction if you're using skinny ropes.
  9. Public meeting to investigate the impact of the proposed NUSEL laboratories under Mt. Cashmere. Tuesday's meeting will host hydrogeologist Anne Udaloy as she lays out the potential impact of the NUSEL tunnels on Icicyle Valley's watershed. Check out this link for more info: Iciclevalley.org
  10. in extremis i just make a sticht plate setup out a an broken wine bottle and good sized bong.
  11. uh.. further proof I know nothing.
  12. Chad Kellogg will be hosting a slideshow of his amazing speed climbs at the Seattle REI at 7pm on Friday (tomorrow). I don't know if - will show. Roger Strong will also present a slide show, but I'm not as familiar with his accomplishments (which only proves I know nothing). Check it out - Kellogg is the real thing, and has done amazing shit. Freaky genes or is he doing something I could learn from?

  15. Anyone heading to Lillooet from Seattle Saturday afternoon?
  16. I just called up to the Mile-O Motel to make reservations for the Ice Fest Weekend (Feb. 7-8th). The nice woman at the other end informed me that the Ice Fest has been cancelled this year. Kind of bummed because I was heading up with a crew of friends & was planning on setting some friends up with easier top-ropes. Now I'll have to think of something else to do with them. So I made the reservations anyway, but I spent the extra bucks for a jacuzzi room. Hope to see you punters up there!
  17. That slab is north facing- was it iced up, snowy, or clean?
  18. I'm voting for MurrayS in 2004.
  19. I think there's also something about how the metal's behavior changes at cold temperatures. For example, a couple years ago BD was about to release a titanium-shafted ice axe, but killed the idea in the beta-testing stage becuase Ti becomes brittle in way-cold temperatures. Of course, maybe that didn't really happen. It could've been a dream I had
  20. I shared Snicker's bars with Colby Coombs. Boone Speed took photo's of me bouldering, and one became a magazine cover-shot. Katie Brown thinks I'm a jerk. John & Karen Yates call me at work. I gave Steve Schnieder unsolicited beta the Feathers! (Sample dialogue- <me>"So, you're from NoCal....do you climb much at Yosemite? "<steve> "yes. go away." I bought chalk from Tom Hornbein's daughter. Fred gave me the evil eye once. So did Croft.
  21. I'd be interested.
