soon to me implies within the next week or so..... for reading comprehension and such... soon so depending on the weather soon can me many things... i dunno if you have climbed the winter routes on chair, but i have found variable conditions during different points in thw winter. with it typically being more lean and less desirable as a climb due to the fact that there was not enough snow to help the route shape up. and currently with the amount of snow fall and the predicted snowfall and the predicted freezing levels and what not i would say chair will not be in for some time unless the current trend changes significantly!

im not trying to pick a fight with dwayner, i am just telling him his rhetoric is tiresome and pointless. he only uses his personal reflections on the subject to attempt to belittle other climbers. he should just stick to with what he knows.

dwyaner just cannot handle the fact that climbing did not stop changing since the 70's/ that is where he is stuck and that is where he will always be, his opinions and abilities reflect that. kinda funny really..... all climbers make an impact irregardless of what aspect of the sport they participate in. to call one form of climbing better then another is stupid. as i can see many forms of impact from all climbers. dwayner doesnt climb anymore but he wishes he did and he sees these kids excedding in weeks and months on what took him his entire climbing carrer. he feels threatend by these people and thus he attmpets to best them with caustic words and ignorant statements.

i doubt that....that route needs alot more snow on it b4 it would be in prime conditions. and anyways, freezing level is going way up.... erik- i should've posted a pic perhaps but there was fair bit of snow that dumped at that elevation over the last couple days. it may not be in prime condition but it would be climbable. you're right though, if the freezing level is going up JUST CUZ SNOW FELL DOES NOT MEAN IT WOULD BE CLIMBED IN ANY CONDITION OTHER THEN SHITTY SNOW ON SHITTY ROCK. I WOULDNT EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS PEAK WITHOUT MORE SNOW....ALOT MORE. BUT I AM SURE YOU COULD CLIMB IT IN ANY CONDITION, BUT I WOULDNT OFFER IT UP TO SOMEONE NEW TO THE AREA WHO IS PROLLY LOOKING FOR GOOD SNOW AND ICE CLIMB TO DO WHEN IT IS SPARSLY COVERED WITH EARLY SEASON SNOW.

you can easily do that without attempting to generalize or put people into groups. especially since if one climber ruins the enviroment all climbers do.

who really cares.....no climber can make a negative remark towards the fact.....as we all part of the sport. no one is better then anyone else and we all make an impact and we all have stock in all access issues and user fees etc.....

last year between oct 18 and jan 11 i spent $400 going to red rocks, moab, phx, zion, mammoth and then to the canadian rockies. after that i spent another $200 climbing at index everyday till march 1st. granted i had friends in all locations to assist with many needs, but it is possible to travel extremly cheap.
