  1. Why don't you just sit in the back of your pickup with an M-16 and make sure none of the rest of us have our cars broken into?
  2. Unfortunately, many of the possibilities I like are limited by a big belly... There's all kinds of fun you can have when pregnant! Oh, wait, wrong belly.
  3. Steve should work on that. It'd nicely complement the users whines
  4. so you are switching to a Mac?
  5. that was my thinking as well. When I was in Huaraz in August I didn't hear much about it.... I just don't want to be surprised if I decide to head down there.
  6. chamonix
  7. you wouldn't have any interest in adventuring in Pakistan, would you?
  8. young female who's a good cook and loves the outdoors. This is the best spray can muster?

  11. for you I'd recommend a 45 pistol

  14. Anyone have their Peruvian crystal ball as to whether anything will be enforced?
  15. wtf would you add a pair of "all mountain" (whatever the fuck that means) to your "quiver" (do you say that between halfcafe soy lattes in your Beemer?)
  16. Median ain't too shabby there:
  17. Ahh... I guess Amgen distorted my perspective. 5,000 employees, average salary ~$100k. Big enough to dominate a suburb or two. thanks for that gem. The government services industry isn't terribly cyclical, look at DC
  18. Seattle may have increasing appeal as a destination, but I'm not seeing much of a resurgence in the Northwest as a place to earn outside the normal Aerospace, Timber, Tech and maybe BioTech. All of those are cyclical.
  19. I'm a big fan of Roxy bikinis
  20. yeah, the $8 a night palaces in India really break the bank
  21. I would think that losing your home would be horrible no matter what tax bracket you are in. Your kids lives' get disrupted, your life gets crazy, etc. Except if your rich you can go out and buy a Mercedes to salve the paing, whereas if you are poor you might be able to buy a Happy Meal. I think it depends where you are defining as LA. I believe much of the unconventional financing for primary residences was the Inland Empire and Orange County. Speculators getting burned are getting their just desserts.
  22. The important way - it's impacting "the people". LA proper is still sitting relatively pretty - the shitholes of the Inland Empire are hurting. Good riddance.
  23. I'm waiting for the Twenty-first Century's answer to Thorstein Veblen to come along and dissect the rise of Conspicuous Virtue in the US. You mean like this?
  24. 40 with another 20 to 30 to come. 6 countries. possibly another 40 or so this "summer"
  25. And too dumb to google it. 18.4 c/gal Washington has the second highest state gasoline tax in the nation. I'd wager the demand curve is fairly flat between current prices and current prices - 52.4. Add another $1 or $2 and see what happens. And perhaps cut other taxes at the same time to keep revenue relatively constant
