That is patently false on both counts. As a good first world citizens you also assume that ultimate market control resides in the consumer. It doesn't. Over long time frames (how long is debatable) your suppositions are probably correct but they ignore the very real problems that can occur in the short term. One need only look at the global influence of a companies like GE, Boeing and Exxon to see the long arm of globalism. Yes, it can and does benefit people. It doesn't always.
