Aye, that we are. Why? Because we've allowed politicians, left and right (best exemplified recently by Bush, imho) to let us believe we can have our cake and eat it to. They, in turn, have cynically exploited this for their own agenda. "Starving the beast"? Right or wrong, that choice should be up to the people if you believe in democracy. When asked directly, people have shown they favor the middle course, as they have with environmental issues. How do you convince them otherwise? By pretending that there will be no consequences for the excesses of the present. As disgusting as pretending that massive taxation and wasteful social programs have no economic cost. Using such ruses to further your own ideological agenda and subvert democracy transcends disgusting and is the hallmark of extremism left and right.

Heh, I didn't say it was great... but then my limited CO flyfishing experience wasn't stellar either, too many people for small fish in low flows (Wa/Or weren't any better, not much worse) It'd definitely be a nice place to live for outdoor sports - I just find the CO attitude that it's the best and only place for outdoor activities amusing (see numerous threads on this site)... like the Californians or New Yorkers who don't believe culture exists outside of their urban area.

true, true. LA is different though - there's a tractor beam ('Hollywood') that draws the attractive and dim, as well as longstanding cultural whackjob affinities left (newagers) right (Ayn Rand ilk) and plain retarded (Scientology) that truly drag down things.

they are drawn to sprawling nasty cities like moths to a flame... try LA, it's mahvelous until they open their functionally retahded mouth
